I’m just rubbing it in now but have I mentioned how happy I am with my ventilated seats? Not the same amount of bolstering on the sides but after taking several multi-hour trips in the 19’ ranging from 2 hours (weekly) to 12 hours, I’m very happy with the comfort level. They are definitely softer seat backs than my 18’.

For those whom find the seats uncomfortable, have you tried adjusting the seat in different ways to improve the situation? In another thread about long road trips, at least one member found relieve by adjusting the height of seat up close to the limit, keeping knees and butt leveled, avoiding too much pressure on either the butt or the thighs.
My driver seat is also adjusted up high close to the limit, since I like a commanding view. I have no issues with the seat. I wish they put a bit more foam padding there, but I find the firmness (or shall I say lack of cushiness) is quite typical to German sport-oriented seats. |

I went to look at both ventilated and non ventilated seats on the X3 and noticed that the non-ventilated seats have a more pronounced ridge on the bottom sides of the seat, since both seats are too narrow, it makes it very uncomfortable when side-ridge digs into the bottom portion of your thigh. The ventilated seats are not as pronounced (as you sit more on top of the seats vs. the sport seats that are designed to "sit in"- therefore my findings are that ventilated seats are more comfortable for adults who are around 6' and 180+ lbs.

The X3 I drove today (and loved!) had Sports Seats. Seemed fine, but that was a 15 minute test drive. And I was paying close attention to many other things too. I am 99.9% sure that is the way I will go. But you had better believe that I will do further research on seats before purchase! Family and friends are most likely sick of me bitching Last edited by Cape Dave; 03-18-2019 at 01:35 PM.. |

My X3 was built on December 2017 and had the most uncomfortable seats after the first few weeks. It got bad enough when combined with the suspension to get rid of the car. I absolutely loved how the M40i drove but could not get over the seats/ride. I would be more after driving to work every day. Work my X4, after 2700 miles I have no such issues

Unlikely seeing how its a proper ///M SUV the seats will be heavily bolstered (which is perfectly fine) but comfort will be elusive. The X5M had more comfortable seats. I've learned that comfort only starts at the 5 Series/X5 or higher.

I find my seats in the X3 to be perfectly fine so far. Albeit my longest stretch in the seat at anyone time has only been 1.5hrs so far. I guess the real test will be on our summer road trip but I'm not anticipating any issues with that 6hr drive.

I'm not a big person 5'8" 140lbs so the seats aren't too narrow or anything, they're simply not comfortable. I guess everyone's experiences will vary

In my M40, the bolstering was under my legs unless I kept my legs smashed together so it was just a bad fit. I bet 2-3 inches wider and actually centered to the pedals would have been way better. I am 6' and 180 lbs. |

Same here. Find them quite comfortable (non-vented). I drive to our cottage every 5 weeks or so and it's a 585km drive one way. I also do a lot of highway driving for work and no issues with these seats. Production date was Sept 6 2018 if that is of any relevance

I find the seat on my X3 comfortable. Not as cushy as I would expect from a full size Lexus SUV, but comparable to other compact, Sport oriented German cars. I've not tried out the new G20 3-series, but I think my X3 seats are better than the outgoing 3-series model. We need to put things in perspective and make Apples to Apples comparison. The seats in my X3 is slightly narrower than all the mid size cars, SUV and minivan that I've owned, but is on par or slightly better vs my fully loaded compact Rav 4 Hybrid. So, for those who find the seats of the X3 uncomfortable, chances are good that most compact cars or SUV are not for them, especially sporty ones that tend to have firmer seats. Exceptions do exist and your mileage may vary. So don't use your flame thrower on me |

Yes, there is a side discussion about ride comfort, where you can find some other suggestion about seat adjustment from. @XGoober
