Yes I have the same issue on my 18. The right bolster literally feels like it sticking out much more than the left and I keep trying to shift left, very annoying and not sure what to do yet but it's definitely uncomfortable.

My seats are ok for a short trip (<2hr), and get uncomfortable on the bottom beyond 2 hr. Currently carrying a back packing seat pad for longer trips. Another thing that I’ve noticed: as I switch between my wife’s car (2018 Acura RDX) and my 2018 X3 M40i, is that I feel a bit off centered (to the right) as I get behind the wheel of my X3? Anyone else notice that? Really feels awkward. Mine was built in April of 2018, and the attached photo shows a tag; have no idea who the mfg is.

Yup my back seats and front seats have loose leather. Also my passenger door light is unevenly lit. My car is about a month old. Should I go bother the dealer about it?

Uncomfortable seat on right-side of driver seat
I have discomfort after a 2h drive on the right side of my buttocks. Keep on searching and shifting for a better position. BMW informed me the problem is unknown, but I read posts here that describe exactly the same issue.
I went to a car leather shop already twice: once to remove the leather flap because it’s exactly under my bottom cheek giving pressure. Second time they added additional foam to soften the seat, but still: after 2 hours I begin to feel pressure pain. It’s not skin irritation due to leather seams, it’s because of the small amount of pressure. No problem driving 1h, but painfull during long rides. I have a cushion for long rides but do not consider that as a permanent solution. I had a 5 series F11 before and never had any problems. Not even after a 10h drive! I have leather vernasca cognac sport seats without ventilation. The car leather shop could replace the leather part of the bottom seat with different stitching, but the vernasca leather is new and not yet available on the aftermarket. Could take up to 1 year of waiting. I’m happy about this car, but the joy is overclouded by this issue.. if someone solved it or knows the root cause, I would be happy to hear about it! |

You are correct in how narrow they are. I had an F80 M3 and an M2. Both of those seemed wider in the seat bottoms.

You guys have a car made before the seat manufacturer change? I remember when I test drove the car in January, the seats were indeed narrow in the bottom side. My car was made in August a I believe the seats are wider there now.

No. I am speaking in reference to the newest seats. Car rolled off the assembly line on December 4th.

I thought i just needed to get used to the new car and higher seating position then i see this thread. I have had two 3GT's a 5 series and a 3 sedan and never felt this discomfort. I feel like its off center and my left leg is hanging off the bolster. I keep trying playing around to get a decent position but cant find one. Its a 2019 M40 non ventilated seats built in Oct. I have about 500 miles now so pretty much new. I havent been a long drive yet but those are coming in the next few weeks and hoping it starts to feel better. Otherwise the car drives great.

I realize that. That's what I initially read back then. Later discovered that the new seat mfg (MAGA) would start with the new X5. I even looked under the seat of my 2019 X3 and it indeed is still made by Lear. No doubt it may stay the same till a new X3 redesign or when the contract expires.

Well, I always thought the seat discomfort was due to my having the ventilated ones but now hearing all of the discussions about the non-ventilated seats makes me assume they are all bad. Seat narrowness is my number one complaint about them too. But other complaints include not enough shoulder support (the ventilated option looks narrower up top) and not great lumbar support either (can’t raise the balloon high enough).
