Does Sensatec interior X3 M40i really NOT have Ambient Lighting?

Does anyone have sensatec interior in their 2018+ X3? I've heard they do not have ambient lighting.. can anyone confirm and share interior night photos? There must be some sort of ambient light shining right? Just not the multi-colored lights? I'm super interested in an out of state X3 M40i that is pretty striped down and just has premium package but no leather / sensatec only. I've heard it doesn't have any ambient lighting.. but even my 2017 X1 with sensatec has nice red ambient lighting everywhere.

I’d be more worried about the fake leather than the lack of ambient lighting!

I have it in my X1 and it's great. Easy to clean, keeps you gripped in the seat better, doesnt get bolster wear, etc. I've had lots of BMWs with leather and if going black/beige then sensatec is great but sure it would be nice to have the other colors only offered in leather like cognac

Fair enough, I suppose its horses for courses! For me, even Vernasca/Dakota is too low quality for the interior of a premium car.

I've had top of line BMWs including an M5 and now an M3 and never once sat in them and thought WOW, this leather is awesome...it just isnt that great or a reason I buy BMWs. Heck, I had an E46 with leatherette which was just fine and nobody could tell the difference.

Again horses for courses, for me it has to be full/top grain leather on both my car seats and living room sofas, nothing else comes close for appearance, feel and smell.

They must be pretty crappy sofas because BMW leather doesn't compare to any top of line leather furniture I've ever had.

Teaston is teasing. He has Merino which is a lot better than Vernasca.

No ambient with Sensatec. Also no heated rear seats.

But there must be some kind of ambient lighting standard right? Even just a subtle orange dome light glow? An or near the cup holders or is it actually pitch black except for buttons and screen?

I have Merino in my G01. It might not be awesome but it's a whole lot better than the Dakota plastic coated leather I had in my F25.... chalk and cheese difference.

Merino is nice but I'm not a fan of the quilted design on the X3.

The X3M seats, however, look great.

My wife's TT has alcantara with leather sides, a great combination.

I had alcantara on an Audi S4. Those seats were great. Awesome grip, easy to keep clean, and didn't get crazy hot in the summer.

In fact I was living in the hot brown dirt of AZ back then...ugh...ordered just so I wouldn't burn myself!

Actually reminds me that steering wheel was alcantara too as that thing would be molten otherwise...

Huh? Where are you seeing this? We have a November-made '18 X3 M40i with Sensatec and Ambient Lightning, both were included in M40i engine option. EU, Belgium here.

The configurations are very different in NA, they get much lower standard equipment levels.

In US it is an option if you have less than Executive package to get ambient lighting. Local dealer has an alpine white with black sensatec with premium and ambient lighting. Online configurator at bmwusa shows all this.

Looks like ambient can indeed be paired with sensatec but no heated rear seats.
