New 2024 X4 M40i
Have been lurking and new to forum. Recently bought the M40i Brooklyn Grey 2 weeks ago. Still learning the ins and outs of the car. Went through the dealer's Genius. Still a lot of details that needs comprehending.
Thanks. |

I replaced my 2020X4M40I with a 2024X4M40I back in Early August. Custom build and also got Brooklyn Gray/Red Tacora. Their are a lot of changes between the 2 even though both have I Drive 7. Many more features and downloadable options. Originally didn't order the Dash cam or Remote start, but ordered it later and BMW downloaded it to the vehicle as it was parked in my driveway. (only software was needed) as the hardware I guess was installed at the factory. If you are in an area with speed and red light camera's you can buy the App FROM bmw depending on where you live to, notify you on the headsup display or dash. It is worth the $25 per year here in NY as their are red light and speed cameras everywhere.ENJOY YOUR CAR

The only thing I didn't like was I ordered to have non-RFTs and have the spare tire option. When I picked up it was all RFTs. Dealer stated that all vehicles coming out of factory had to have the RFTs installed due to "Safety Concerns". Dunno if this is BS. But they did give me a break on pricing. Now I'm stuck with the RFTs until they wear out and replace them with non-RFTs.
BTW. Is that the RED flashing I see in the HUD that is telling me something which I still do not know what the flashing is all about? Also noticed there are two sets of batteries. One in the engine compartment and the bigger one in the cargo bay. Why two batteries? Still trying to get the hang of things in the new to me electronics world as from my older Bimmers. Thanks. |

The additional Li-ion battery in the engine bay is because it’s an MHEV. It’s uses a starter/generator as an electric motor under certain conditions to power the car. |

the tires comment sounds like total BS... some other folks also ordered non rft and in turn received RFT... i am guessing it's random shortages here and there and they are releasing cars with whatever they have... i personally don't think this vehicle's suspension was setup for non RFTs and if you look at how the spares were installed, it backs that up but to each their own

BTW that red flashing in the hud - the only one I ever saw was the car collision warning (like a red car flashes up). It means you're about to die. If it is that, and considering you're still here, either the auto braking shizzel did its job or it's some failure of a sensor perhaps?
I seem to recall (but can't remember) it may also activate if you have side collision avoidance and such on, like when you're reversing out of a space and a car is coming it will do. May be on the wrong page but that is my 2 cents (actually 4 cents now with inflation?). |
