I feel like I’m gonna get laughed at for asking this but ih well. Has anyone installed an android stereo/headunit in their x3? So many “brands” sell the unit so hard to specify. I feel myself just not satisfied with my screen, I’m so picky when it comes to this fit whatever reason lol. I have the i5 and I just don’t care for the layout or looks at all tbh lol.

From my limited research, I don’t think I can upgrade to a newer system which I like more. I also can’t find any other upgrade options other than the android units (if you know any options pls let me know what I can buy!)

I’ve had an android headunit in a past vehicle and I know these things are far from perfect, I do like the customization available. So does anyone have any experience with these? Are they complete junk, a nice upgrade, lack quality to speakers, etc.

Go ahead and laugh if this is a dumb question, dumb questions are the only ones I have lol

I went on a well respect website called Crutchfield.com. It shows nothing available, nothing aftermarket.

Checked their as well, love Crutchfield. I think I may give the android unit a try, the install is pretty easy so switching back won’t be a big deal.

I wonder if there’s a way to upgrade to a newer idrive system?

AFAIK there's no Drive 6 to iDrive 7 route.

Different underlying architecture SP15/SP18, different hardware such as RAM that uses ethernet to link to the head unit, different MGU head unit etc.
