Can’t make up my mind:Brooklyn Grey or Black Sapphire?

Hey, guys, I can’t make up my mind on the color, the interior is Sakhir Orange, but the exterior I’m torn between these two.

IMO Black is classic. Brooklyn Grey may be a trend. Black is nearly impossible to keep clean so expect to be “married” to a black car if your picky about your car being clean all the time.

Go with Black Sapphire. Worst case scenario, you can have it wrapped to that color and revert back.

I always recommend my customers who are in the process of ordering their car to get black so the door jambs are just black and many shops charge much more for wrapping door jambs as there is a bit more removal required / adjusting hinges.

I went with Brooklyn Grey and had been on the fence for some time about switching. However a close friend of my recently picked up a 2021 M3 in BGM and mentioned to me how well the color hides minor defects in the paint. That's all I needed to hear as I have a 2017 X5 50i in Black Sapphire and it's been a hassle keeping it in pristine condition.

That being said if you plan to do PPF/Ceramic Black Sapphire may not be such an issue to you.

Had a black Golf VR6 many moons ago…….never ever again would I buy a black car. A completely horrendous color to wash/dry and keep looking clean. Plus it showed all the stone chips horribly.

Brooklyn grey every day of the week. I might be slightly biased.

The last black car I owned was a 2000 Audi A4. There's a reason it's been 22 years and counting, I will never own a black car again

Agreed on both. My current car, even kept in an indoor garage is my first and maybe the last black car will ever own unless I pay 6-7K for a total PPF treatment on the next one.

I got BGM. I'll never own another black car. Terrible upkeep. If you go black a ceramic coating is a must. I got ceramic coating on my BGM and it's amazing. Easy to keep up and super hydrophobic. Almost nothing sticks to it.

Brooklyn seems to be on nearly every new BMW so for me I'm out because it's just too common.

BSM is a bitch to keep on top of but is a great colour and really suits the car.

Why no MBB which is much rarer?

I've got BSM and love it, but I also do detailing/paint correction/touch up on the side so I don't mind the upkeep. I do find the paint on the X3M chips far easier than any of my other M cars. Easy touch up with the right tools, though.

Have you looked at Carbon Black? IMO it has more depth than any other "dark" color on the BMW palette

That does look good. I’ve changed to the Superman spec for now(MBB and SO interior), but my car’s status is “Scheduled for Production”. I’ve already changed the color 3 times lol. Except for my current AW F97, my every previous car was black, so I don’t mind the upkeep.

Love it! Had a “Superman” Corvette and I did really well when I sold it due to the rare override option. I have had at least 10 black cars and I’ve just had enough trying to keep them looking good. MBB is much easier to keep looking nice IMO.
