Heated Steering Wheel Retro Fit

My car didn’t come with the heated steering wheel but I’m guessing that it has the elements in it.

Anyone had know of the parts or if it’s possible?

Will ask on the M5 forum too as it’s the same wheel.

Thanks

Mine came with it and it's the first car I've had with this feature. I like it a lot.

Same here but it's something I'd have never optioned but since I've been using it it's been a revelation! Fantastic feature.

I'm glad they moved the location of the button. On my X5 it was over on the side....lower down...sometimes had to fumble to find it.
Hopefully it works out. Heated steering wheels are life changing

If it is the same as the previous gen BMW.
All you need is the steering wheel with heating element, heater button, steering wheel trim for heated, then coding or may not.

It was that thread that prompted me to ask on here.

Wondered if anyone else had done it as it looks like a simple retro fit given it's a simple change of one part - trim and button and also a cable and some simple coding.

Following instructions is easy for me, taking the lead isn't

Agreed , that was a nightmare on the M6 left hand side of the steering column next to the electric rake/reach adjustment

I looked into this when I was offered a none comfort pack car, biggest issue is you’re looking at a fair bit of money to change the steering wheel (some people say the elements are in the wheel some say they aren’t) might depend on some other options being on the car

It may be worth buying some nice gloves instead 😂

It is not that easy.
The steering itself is different.

Heated steering wheel, have heating element inside it.
Non-Heated, doesn't have heating element.

Am I invisible here?? :

This isn't always true. As with the F3x cars if you had lane departure and the steering wheel vibrated it had the elements already installed even though the car didn't have the button for the heated steering wheel.

One way to find out before you start ordering the parts.
Take off the airbag and see if you have the heating element.

I hope you got lucky there.
