Roadtrip Weapon: Tuned X3 M40i vs X3M with MMS vs X3M LCI
So here’s the question, a tuned X3 M40i, an X3M with MMS or a new X3M LCI, which makes a better car to do a long winter road trip?
Having poured over the MMS thread it seems like amazing kit when fitted well. But would an X40i with 450bhp+ (map, fuel pump, exhaust, wheels & tires) just be too comfortable to ignore? Or does the LCI reprogramming bring that into contention now too? |

X3m40 is barely different than an x3m on a road trip, its a consistent movement, vs city driving the x3m40 would be better because its slightly softer and has roll, x3m is harsh and stiff because its made strictly for performance.

If we are truly building a road trip car only, the priorities would be luxury and comfort. Not sure how a tune is needed in this scenario. The clear choice in these parameters would be the M40i, no tune needed, on the 20" rims.

Op does state "weapon" which implies , "goes like shit off a shovel and handles like a true sports car" yet comfortable for long haul trips , 5 seats and plenty of functional cargo space .... hmmmm - LCI : tick, tick, and tick

OK, so a GT car. Maybe I'm getting too old but this platform doesn't suit that strategy well. :
