Powder Coating Wheels and Lease Return?

I have a 2021 X3MC DG SO combo with a lease return of June 2024 and am not too wild about the wheels. Would powder coating the wheels be a problem when returning it? I'd be interested to hear if anyone has done this before. Thanks!

I don’t even think they will notice as long as they are not red or green….black is usually accepted.

I bought an off lease BMW from a dealership. The wheels were powder coated so obviously they were turned it that way.

if its some weird random color like yellow, then yes, they might say something.

if you powercoat it black or grey, they'll most likely not notice them at all so you should be fine.

Make sure the powder coating place you use does a good job too. If the wheels are not done very well the dealership could say something. But for the most part if it is tasteful and looks good it will probably net them money if they take the car in and try and sell it.

It is going to depend on the dealership and how critical the person is who inspects it. Worst case scenario, they could charge you for 4 new wheels. Black is your safest bet, but it's still a gamble

Satin Black looks much better IMO. I would do gloss black on a Lexus not an X3M.

I'm thinking a gray gunmetal or a white gold.

I remember seeing another car here with BBS on that had a chrome lip with gold face. IMO I think stick with black. There was another member here with bronze wheels on 798M wheels, wasn't my cup of tea but is difference. Which wheels do you have?
