BMW connected drive specifically state that Bluetooth and WiFI have to be activated/active for Carplay connections. Bluetooth alone does not have sufficient bandwidth to support the more data hungry apps.
Good to know. Thank you!

Thanks

IIRC BMW uses Voda in the UK, but I can't recall if you get the first 3 years included with a new car, then there's an annual subscription after that.

Already have Spotify premium and assume it's just case logging into the car app.

Have unlimited data on the phone, so may go this route if/when any free car subscription runs out.

I tried setting up Spotify via the connected drive and it said I had to have Spotify premium. Bummer. But, running Spotify on my phone via CarPlay, BT or USB works fine so it’s cool.

"HiFi Loudspeaker Audio System

With its twelve speakers and 205 watt amplifier, the multi-channel HiFi loudspeaker audio system provides an outstanding audio experience for all passengers. In addition to the two particularly powerful central bass speakers, this system also features a centre speaker that focuses the sound in front of the driver. "

Or

The premium-quality loudspeakers include a centre tweeter and midrange speaker in the middle of the instrument panel, two tweeters in the mirror triangles, two midrange speakers in the front door trims, two midrange speakers in the rear door trim, two central bass speakers underneath the front seats, two tweeters in the rear door trims, two midrange speakers in the D-pillar and two tweeters in the D-pillar."

The loud speaker system is standard on the Msport 30e model, it doesn't say what is standard on the 20i or 2.0d models.

Can the audio system start up volume be reduce? I can’t find anything in the settings, digital owners manual or search on this forum.

Not 100%, but I recall reading there is a base audio system, which I think has fewer speakers. Maybe no central dash speaker or subs ??

The one mentioned above is a step up from base IIRC.

Does it not resume at the level last used ?

Also, quick question, how's that BMW universal wireless charger working out? Any issues?

I don't think it is configurable via iDrive, but I seem to recall an option in Bimmercode that allows you to set the maximum start-up volume.

This has gotten no response in a thread on wireless charging, so perhaps it is too stupid to ask. Let me try here:

Why does this design exclude the iPhone 12? I've seen that limitation for a couple of these chargers.

I ask, thus extending the madness, because I'm about to get an iPhone 13 Pro, which I think is simply too new to get listed in the specifications for these chargers, and I need to believe that they will be compatible.

Thus, I am trying to understand what exactly determines compatibility between a phone and a charger, and, for example, why the iPhone 12 is incompatible.

I was thinking that it came on louder than when I last turned it off. Then my wife commented that it was Spotify that was playing. I wonder if I listen to Spotify on my phone and earbuds, if I have the volume louder on that device it then makes it louder in the car?

The BMW cup holder wireless charger is perfect. It’s a great place to keep the phone rather than a screen mount and it charges the phone on a journey perfectly while using Waze

Yea, I guess volume could be source dependent.

Thank's for the feedback on the charger. It's been out of stock at BMW/Amazon for a while, but I found a local dealer with stock, so bought one as he offered a discount.

Glad you got one, you won’t be disappointed. It’s second nature now just to put the phone on it when I get in the car.

Thanks, will the slide cover close with just the cup bit left in of does the USB cable connection prevent this ?

It comes with a USB C adaptor for the cigarette lighter socket. I purchased a right angled USB A to C adaptor and plug it into the USB A socket. I then pull the cover over this to the edge of the cup holder. Keeps the wire out of sight then.

Does the BMW USB A port put out enough power?

Always had issues properly charging phones unless from a higher output cigarette socket USB adapter with higher amps.

I think it has something to do with the iPhone 12 and beyond needing a MagSafe charger. Google iphone magsafe to see what I'm talking about.

Here goes my stupid question....How do I get Screen Mirroring to work on my Pixel 6 (android)??? LCI - iDrive 7

I've tried deleting the mobile device and re-adding, rebooting iDrive, etc...

Android Auto works perfectly fine and myBMW App shows BT/Wifi/Apps are all connected. I do get a warning on my Pixel stating the connection to WiFi has no internet and if I would like to stay connected (but I leave it alone, otherwise none of my phone apps will work without internet).

I can't use the native Screen Cast feature on my phone as it requires a WiFi connection. If I do connect to BMW Wifi (No Internet), Screen Cast searches but can't find anything.

Can anyone help?
