I haven't seen many people order their X3's w/o the premium (which allow the wood or aluminum trims) so if there any pics of those of you have ordered the silver matte trim, please share that here too.

Sweet! As mentioned before, I'll be placing my order mid/late April. What's your spec breakdown?

Similar thread; it seems the silver matte trim is plastic while the brushed aluminum is real metal.

Not a very good picture but this is matte silver on a E92 3 Series.

So it's brushed aluminum by default?

I am going with the 28i Sports Pkg Convenience Pkg (so far) and the only trim avail in that build is the silver matte trim on the BMWUSA site.

I'm in NC, fwiw.

I think it's the only trim available for the 28i without the Premium package. The wood looks nicer, but the aluminum is easier to clean and care for.

If you buy 28i, silver matte trim is the default one, you will not be able to change to wood trim, is what I was told by my dealer.

The demo we had had Brushed Ali inserts. Might be wrong but if they get scratched, they won't polish out very well.

You are correct that the 28i w/o premium package comes standard with silver matte. That is how my X3 is configured which is on order.

First material difference and then finish quality that it gives on the vehicle. I have seen matte on 28i that I test drove with black interior, it looked very dull in my opinion, it does not complement the vehicle interior that much like the brushed aluminum. One of the 35i's that I test drove had brushed aluminum with same black interior and the difference is like day and night. To me looks are very important when I am buying a 50k car, I do not want to save 350$ now and keep thinking for next 4 or 5 years, that I should have gone for brushed aluminum. With that said I heard lot of complaints about brushed aluminum getting dents easily, hence i went for dark wood otherwise my choice would have been brushed alum.

Your dealer is full of it. All three trims are available on the 28i if you add the Premium Package.

OT - but does anyone know or has been able to order a trim of their choice without ordering the premium pkg? Maybe there's a code the dealer can use? Just thinking outloud here.
