carwow video was rubbish, but second video was worth watching. I was surprised how well the Jag did and how poor the land rovers and VAG products did.
BMW did a great job on tuning the awd system properly.

Makes me want to go put a lift kit on an X3 and have some fun.
The Audi/Land Rover marketing machines must have lost their minds after the second video. It was the exact opposite of the expected results. |

Both videos were fun to watch but useless in my world. If I was off roading, I would install proper tires. And I like Matt. At least both videos were not narrated by Schmee or Supercar Bimbo.

Who buys one of these vehicles to ever to do this? Their natural habitat is driving to the shopping mall or driving towards the parking lot of a ski area. It's like comparing a carrera and covette based on their luggage space.
Nevertheless, it demonstrates that the AWD tech has become more advanced. A few years back none of these would be able to progress on a slope with one or two wheels in the air (maybe except quattro). |

My only concern with BMW was going down hill the front wheels would lock up and slide, when that happens you have a risk of the front of the car going in a direction you do not want. This could be especially bad in snow. I personally have always turned off traction control in the snow since it always got me stuck verses me just freewheeling and using my years of experience driving rear wheel drive cars in the snow. I put good snow tires on my 335i and never got stuck even when snow is up to the bumper.

Same here!
I came across a Schmee video a while back. It was him but the channel had a different name and he was speaking normally and low key while doing the review. I don't recall the name though but it was easier and watch, but not something I'd seek out.

Interesting as they really put the screws to the traction system of the vehicles. I have to wonder how much of a difference the M-rear drive would have made.

I don't doubt the capabilities of the bigger LR/RR products. Just interesting that they cut corners on the lower end offerings.
