I'd feel much worse if I was on OS8, since it's been abandoned after such a short while. At least OS7 has received updates for years.
I can understand your point, but I do not fully agree. Cars with OS7 still in Serial Production. I know, OS7 rolled out several years before. But there are still several car classes what can be configured with OS7 only and burg as new car.
In my opinion until bigger portion of portfolio equipped with OS7, they car manufacturer shall take care of OS7.

I know, it is something new in automotive business, how to deal with OTA.

You are again fully right. The functions are available by other way around.
Unfortunately there is no alternative for me with OS8

iX1: Too small
i4, i5, i7: I am looking for SUV solution due to usage behaviour.
The only alternative may be the iX. iX eDrive 40 has smaller range. Due to my usage behaviour I must stick to the range what iX3 can provide. (I also considered battery degradation).
So the only alternative I can see, is iX eDrive50. This may be a dream from range point of view but there is 1,5 multiplier on price. OS8 worth not so much.

Therefore iX3 still the best choice with this OS compromise.

I did the upgrade and got the below message on my phone once it was complete. The car doesn't show any warning symbols or messages. Should I ignore it?

If the car isn't giving you any warnings then I don't think you need to worry.

I had a message in the car and a call from BMW after I updated to 03/2023.53 back in June but it cleared itself and I have had no issues since.

Comments #10/#11 in this thread are related to this for 03/2023.53.
