update 03/2023.67

this was a first for me ---> it required driving while it was uploaded from my mobile (where it was already downloaded); then, when the car preloaded it, the installation started only when the vehicle was parked and secured.

Have you noticed any significant improvements or changes. The release notes seem a little vague and nothing major.

I haven't noticed any differences from any of the updates over the last 20 months!

The only thing I have ever noticed was the chime with the speed camera warning addition.

However that happened outwith a software update somehow....

And the heating sort of improved after the last update few months ago...I think

well, I felt the car a bit changed. Like I have earned 10 horsepower in comfort mode

really, not joking... and also the steering a bit more sensible; again, in the comfort mode.

Mine arrived yesterday in the UK - it’s a staggered release in case any issues are found.

No noticeable difference.

The My BMW app on your phone will notify when it’s there, no need to be proactive unless you want to keep refreshing in iDrive

Hello all,

I am not yet an iX3 owner, but it is already ordered and manufactured. The car already under relocation from production location to me. By reading this thread some doubts found me.

Such an investment usually not made for few years only. Moreover I am missing some features so much what are available in OS8. I add my personal whites by importance order below:
- Charging limit "%" adjustment from MyBMW app
- Battery charging level in "%" view on dashboard
- Charging current (Amper) adjustment from MyBMW app

I think all of those features independent from HW differences between OS7 and OS8.
But based on the posts I read here, I have the feeling there is even no chance to get such minor improvements.

Does anyone have any contact to BMW support/ customer service to raise the question about the support plans for OS7?
Despite high amount of iX3 sold nowadays with OS7, I have the feeling the EV aspects of OS7 not in focus. EV aspects considered in OS8 development only.
If I am right, it is not a wise move to buy an iX3 in 2023 octocbe.

Zero chance of any new functionality in iDrive 7, I’m afraid.

With the new update, does the mybmw app show the charging curve of the car now?

No, checked and I don’t have that, don’t expect it given the car has iDrive 7.

I have owned my car for over 18 months. I have rarely needed to change the charging limit - I leave it set to 100%. It is an 80kWh battery with only 74kWh (92%), so you cannot ever really charge it to 100%. Plus it is my understanding that the battery management software has other protections built in.

The battery % view would be nice, but you can get a fairly good estimate on the "fuel gauge" on the dash.

I have only changed the charging current twice - when using the adapter to go into a normal power socket. You are at the vehicle to plug it in, so it isn't a problem to make the change in the vehicle, as opposed to the app.

For all the other benefits that the car has, I would consider these to be extremely minor disadvantages.

You learn to read the approximate battery level pretty quickly. If you need it precisely, you can just use the voice command "battery status" and the car will respond back with it in percent.

The battery level is shown on the display in % just not a digital readout and as stated above you could just ask the car but you can read the left display quite accurately to within 5% when you get used to it.

The listed 3 function based on your feedback seems to be not so important. But Buying a brand new car what is almost ot of the range of supported products sounds bad. Anyhow thank you so much for sharing your experience.

What is disturbing for me, I do not see any HW limitation to introduce this three features. Okay, I can imagine, there will be no new dashboard designed for OS7 to show Battery changing level by "%".

Why does there need to be hardware restrictions? OS7 is EOL.

I'd feel much worse if I was on OS8, since it's been abandoned after such a short while. At least OS7 has received updates for years.

Absolutely. And OS7 continues to receive updates. There is no obligation on the manufacturer to continue to provide updates, other than bug and security fixes. None of my older cars were upgraded by the manufacturer for the life of the vehicle... It would have been nice to receive an upgrade from tape to CD!!!

The features that you want are all available. However, they are not accessible in the way you want to access them. If these are deal breakers, then maybe the iX3 is the wrong choice for you. I wouldn't expect them to change in the current software version.
