In town, I’ve increased to ~16.5mpg. It does seem to be improving as the engine is breaking in. I’m at ~2,700 miles now. J |

Agreed. My e60 M5 got under 12 mpg in city driving and barely scratched 18 highway. City fuel range was barely 200 miles. The results reported above for the X3M are plenty good. In my Jag SVR I am getting 17 mpg city and 23 highway. No one should complain about 500-550 hp 4200+lb SUVs getting this kind of mileage.

Granted, if I was really beating on it, it would drop down to like 11-12 -- but with mixed city/highway (highway I was typically at 80-85) it was 15-16.

Update. Half city/freeway driving. After 3 months of my daily routine, I am at 13.2. I don't drive crazy, although, I do like to upshift bang from 1-2 & 2-3. Other than that, I would say I am pretty conservative. About 80 on the freeway (which is slow for San Diego) and within 5mph of limit "in town". Range after I fill up completely reads 249. Not great, but then again, since I am not a complete moron, thinking my 500hp was an economical/fuel efficient choice... I am okay with it since I don't drive a ton... If I had a crazy commute, I snap up a used hybrid for work.

First of all US mpg and UK mpg are different but range on a tank are the same.
My car is showing around 335 miles range on a tank but it's got less than 150 miles on it. I think once run in it will do 300-350 on average. Potentially up to 380 on a cruise control motorway run.

I'm 600 miles in and average of 21.6mpg. That's a mix of town and motorway driving.

You won't get a decent idea of the MPG until the engine is run in and you've put a few thousand miles on the clock, I recall driving back in my new F80 M3 from the dealers and getting well below 20mpg whilst driving it gently, the overall average after 90,000 miles was 29.7mpg.

Bump for some surprising numbers from this weekend.
LCI x3m comp all comfort settings and cruise control set to around 80 mph the whole way both ways. Car showed 30 miles of fuel remaining after the first leg and 45 miles of fuel remaining after getting back home (only about 130 feet of elevation difference)

I get 25 to 26 on highway runs of 2 hours or more. My average for daily driving is 20.6. But I see at times when I turn on from start is shows me around 7.5 driving heavy.

Over 9600 miles I averaged 22.9 MPG. Lots of highway miles. About 6000 highway, 3000 rural and 600 miles in city traffic. I remember the avg because I checked it before I did a reset when I sold it. That was on 93 octane non ethanol.
My first dealer fill up on my M4C was 93 octane 10% Ethanol. I’ve averaged 19.7 over 483 miles. Almost at 500 miles so I’m sure the MPG will go down significantly. At least for a while😉 If you drive like a lunatic you can expect 6-8 MPG. My son came down and over a week I got 6.8 MPG with him driving my X3MC. I like to punch it from a roll but I’m not horrible on my cars. I’d guess on 91 with 10% ethanol you can expect 17-19 MPG average with conservative driving and 6-8 if you drive like my son 😀 |

My 2023 M4C has combined 23.7. Rural upstate SC. Lots of Hwy. Western NC mountain driving. I've done 10-15 launches. Top hwy is a tad over 140mph.
But in general - I've drive for mpg. Not a stop and go soccer mom. lol. |

This is a very high output engine(we all know that) and most of us drive spiritedly. so I'm getting about 17 avg with E30 and that's a mix of driving. It's definitely capable of 12-15 if you have a heavy foot but it's also capable of 18-21 if babied. Did i say babied, wrong car to buy if your babying it... imo...

Anyone who says they get 22+ MPG is lying. Sure if you literally fill up your tank, get right on the highway, drive 300 miles and fill up again you might get 22+. Any normal combination of daily driving will be hard to get more than 18 MPG. I am averaging about 17.5 from normal daily driving over 5k miles.

My record 26,1mpg with 165km on the highway cruising at ca 120km/h trying hard for best economy . Not even indicative of real world consumption which lies around 18-19 mpg.
