Hi All,

I’ve been putting in a lot of time figuring out if I wanted to commit to Carbon Fiber exterior accessories/parts on my MY24 X3MC.

When looking through this forum, I read multiple posts stating the installation of a new Rear Diffusor eliminates the kick power lift gate function. Most of these posts seemed to be fairly old.

Curious to know if there are any rear diffusers for the LCI that will not prevent the kick power gate function from working?

To me, the CF rear diffusor is necessary if going with the mirrors, splitters, front surround…etc. I know it’s minor, but spending the money on this vehicle, I want 100% functionality.

doesn't matter what the platform is. if you have a CF diffuser, it'll interrupt the sensor for the kick power gate function.

had it happen for my F80, same thing with the F97.

Thank you! Depressing. I’m sure I’ll change my mind regarding aesthetics vs functionality at some point.

BMW had a CF Diffuser option for the Pre-LCI F98 X4M that kept the hands-free option, but it was almost $3k, so not sure if anyone actually bought one.

Other than that exception, I'm not aware of any other CF options that kept the HF, as has been stated.

I opted to go another route since I just didn't see the BMW OE option as being worth $3K.

I ultimately opted for the aesthetics vs the functionality... but wrestled with the same decision you are working through.

I hate the kick lift gate feature on this car... it "kicks in" when you don't want it to and never works when you do. More than once I had it almost drop on my head when I was leaning into the cargo space to move things around. Thankfully the settings let you disable the "close" part of it.
