What about the BMW card and setting up the car

So once we get our iX3 what are the tasks we do to get fully online??

Thinking of setting up the "My BMW" stuff. Also the card that can be used in lieu of keys etc.

The card should just work from factory, as for the rest, install the my bmw app, set it up, and when your in the car use the qr code on screen to link it. Job done

I notice that the digital iPhone key and the card work but no comfort access. I mean I have to unlock and lock by using the digital key or the nfc card. With the actual key in my pocket the comfort access works.

I got adaptive suspension from the store but it isn't showing in the menu yet, any ideas on what I need to do?

For the nfc unlock, need it next to the sensor (door handle and charger in center of car) they use near field and ultra wide band for it, so it's not like the lazy tesla Bluetooth unlock.

As for adaptive, you should get a notification next time you start the car, saying a setting update available, select it and the iDrive will download and reboot, and it becomes available. Takes about 10 mins. Check in notifications to see if you missed the push notification of the update.

Does the digital key work with or without device unlock?

From BMWs YouTube video, it appears your phone unlocks the car and can be driven off without unlocking the phone. Can you set it to unlock the car only when the phone is unlocked?

Does it use NFC?

If so I'd consider ditching my keys altogether.

I think I've answered my own question. On Android you can set your phone to allow NFC only when unlocked. The BMW app let's you do this also per this video. Perfect!

Digital Phone key support on Android is pretty poor. Only a small number of devices supported.

I have a Samsung S22 Ultra, and did setup the Digital Key Card. It appears in my Samsung Wallet and also in my Google Wallet. Tried to unlock the car by holding the phone to the door handle but nothing happened. Tried unlocking the phone, tried opening Samsung Wallet and selecting the BMW card, tried opening the Google Wallet and selecting the BMW card, but nothing works.

However, when I unlock the car via the app, then put the phone on the charging pad, I'm able to start the car and drive away.

(tests done with the physical keys far away in my house)

Can it happen the door handle sensor is defective ?
