X3 M40i Exhaust trim

Hi
Has anyone mounted / tested this type of exhaust trim?
If so, how do they look in real life?

To answer your question - no I have not.

I do have a question of my own - why?

From what I understand is they are held on with adhesive on the tips end. That just sounds like a bad idea for long term outdoor driving.

Looks "ok" but wouldnt expect it to last more than a few weeks or a few car wash.

I had them. They looked cool but lasted no more than a couple of weeks. One even fell of while I was driving.

I would recommend not bothering with them.

This is more of a Mercedes AMG look with the slat in the middle. I dont even know if BMW cars came with this appearance? I am new to BMW not a Mercedes, so thats what I think of when I see this tip style.

And they would stick, you need high temp adhesive. Not the standard crap 3M double sided tape it most likely comes with. I assume this is how chicagofan00 had his mounted. Thats how you lose front splitters, spoilers and any exterior part with 3M.

Yes, mine was stuck on using the 3M adhesive tape that was already applied to the covers upon arrival. I would most certainly change that out if I did it again.

I think it looks pretty good, but using 3M to attach it is not going to hold since the exhaust gets hot. I'd probably get this too but my exhausts keep flaking and I end up getting a new one lol

The 3M tape supplied with them did not hold more than a few weeks given the heat of the exhaust and one fell off while driving. If you could find a different method of attaching or use some kind of high heat tape/glue then I'd imagine it would work just fine. I did like the look of them while they were on.

For those that liked this look, were you able to attach with success given the mentioned challenges for long term use? If so, what method worked?

I used this to keep my exhaust tips on, no issues at all.

I've had mine on for about a month now. No issues...still very secure. I removed the supplied thin 3m tape and used an RTV silicone high temp sealant when installing (JB Weld Red/Amazon). Purchased on Ebay for $35. I opted for the plain black with no "M" logo. Solid quality and looks good. Use the right sealant and you should have no problems.

Where did you purchase the ///M trims?

Edit: I purchased a set from Ebay.

Did you use the Red High Temp RTV Silicone or the Black RTV Silicone?

Use the RTV high temp silicone and you’ll have no issues, mine has been on for about a year.
