Received the link to my report this morning. Forty-six pages of not much. My first name has the formal/informal version, so that showed up a bunch of times. You can also spell my first name two different ways, that was good for a page or two. My last name also has the dreaded apostrophe in it, guaranteed to screw up data entry forms. That probably accounted for 10 pages at least. For auto insurance purposes nothing other than my driver's license was in there, nothing from BMW for the 10 years or so we've been driving them. My last GM product pre-dates On-Star, except for my 2011 beater and I've never paid the subscription price to turn it on, so nothing in there either. Nothing from Subaru's system either. I could chase down the errant first name spelling, but at this point I'll be dead before they fix it.

This is the topic of today’s (March 18, 2024) New York Times “The Daily” podcast:
“Your Car May Be Spying On You.” It starts out with the example of a woman whose abusive husband tracked her Mercedes using the car app, despite court restraining orders against him and court orders transferring ownership of the car to her.
