Exclamation First Real World 2020 Shelby GT500 1/4 Mile Drag Race (10.6!)

Well done FORD.... Very well done!!!

This is the very FIRST real world owner raced video!
This kid is literally an Amateur at the Drag Strip (notice the commentary) and the car is bone stock and running Factory Tires! And he still manages a 10.66 @ 137mph!!!
I really enjoyed how the guys out there were very happy for this kid and very supportive. He's obviously not even a local.
Imagine what Brooks @ Drag Times will run when his arrives...

Something I've noticed in a few images I've seen, is just how flat this car is cornering under high speed.
Take a look at this photo at just how close the fenders are to the tires. Typically, mustangs have had all sorts of wheel gap. Not this Monster though...

Is that kid even old enough to drive? I've always had a soft spot for Mustang, (not the new EV CUV).

If I thought they'd hold some value I might consider getting one of the GT350's.

I absolutely agree. Some weirdos tried to defend the stupid V6, but that's a fools errand. There are two cool GT's and one dumb one with a Taurus lump.

Maybe they originally intended for the car to have a bigger power plant later in production, but then plans changed. You never know with these huge companies, they plan cars to go away, and to come back with only a very select few knowing.

The GT, IMO, Is one of the nicest looking Exotics on earth! And it has a price tag to match. But placing the same V6 used in your $30k vehicles is whack!
I understand putting this fire breathing, heavier, larger engine would call for design changes out back, but so be it. The GT with this engine setup would surely place it in Hypercar territory.

4200 lbs, that's a lot of weight to move at 137 mph through the 1/4 I bet the HP is underrated.

I'd go do far as to say it will compete with like priced cars on the Track as well.

exactly. An RS3 or GTR with bolt ons will do it. I sold my 2010 GTR about 3 years ago. 5k in mods (exhaust, tune, fuel pumps, injectors)… ran 10.4 at 135. sold it for 60k.

mainly im just waiting to see how this mustang stacks up on a track compared to the GTR or 911. There needs to be a pretty big gap there to justify 100k for a mustang you see on every street corner.
