Thanks all for the input, and that makes total sense Max - we've recently moved, so completely new to the dealership.

And yeah beammeupscottie that's what I was thinking - the $1k I'm used to, but I had never heard more more being required when it hits production. So I'm guessing Max nailed it there, as I was told it would be refundable (and the fact that they don't seem to be treating it as a big deal).

I'll definitely post some pics when it delivers!

Completion date got bumped back 1 day to 9/4/19 likely due to the Labor Day holiday Monday 9/2/19...

After 9/4 then it's shipping time....that's another 5-7 days to my area from Spartanburg Plant to the port here in Los Angeles...hopefully we get good builds and not rushed anticipated holiday off time builds...

My '18 X3M40i had no less than three interior panels that were hastily attached resulting in two which vibrated (right side passenger and rear doors) and a right rear cargo panel that just wouldn't stay attached. Dealer fixed everything under warranty, but it was still a letdown from the QC of the brand after decades of not owning a BMW. Taking delivery in 3 weeks of an X3MC and hoping to be pleasantly surprised to find no factory defects.

Hurricane Dorian, depending on the final track, may also impact shipping and Plant Ops as well.

Saw this today, so should be completed this week. Delivery timing will depend on how the hurricane affects South Carolina I guess.

It’s probably exterior color dependent. Batches that have more cars of the same color get preferential treatment. Less popular colors take longer as they would have to switch out paint color and start fresh. This is part of the reason individual colors have a premium price at the bmw factories that offer this option, as the whole line has to stop for the changing to a new non/standard color.

By the way, my car says the same production begins prompt since the 14th of this month.

I called yesterday and Genius said mine finishes 9/4 this coming Wednesday; did they tell you that also?

Yes. We were given a completion date of 9/4 as well. And a tentative date of 9/24 for Performance Center Delivery as they had no earlier dates.

How Hurricane Dorian will affect these dates is anyone’s guess. Human life is far more important than a car, and the people in its path are definitely in our prayers.

Hadn't thought of that (batch runs based on color), but that makes sense. Checked today, and it now shows in 'Quality Check'. Each time I've checked with Genius mine has always been 2 days before your dates (was 31 Aug when you indicated 2 Sep, and was 2 Sep when you indicated 4 Sep). So maybe the BSM's were sent through first?

You could be right. Do they work weekends? Otherwise how else would yours be moving through the process yesterday and today? Hmm...we shall see what happens Tuesday. Perhaps mine got pushed back further.
