The rear lights don't get me excited but I also don't mind them. They look overly complex and I have always though X3 rear lights would benefit from having ever so slightly thinner LED stripes.

I think the pre-lci looks cleaner all around, with a much more cohesive design that has classic bmw cues. The LCI doesn't look bad, but it's certainly more sharp-edged, which is more in line with BMWs new direction. At least the grill isn't 9ft tall.

To your point regarding unnecessary complexity… they get dirty in many places because of all the spaces they have in their 3D design.

I love the design, but they get very dirty easily.
