Just mentioned this on another thread, sorry if it's repetitive: My CA just told me that, according to an internal BMW communication, HUD is only being removed from 4 cylinder models.

So much differing information, hard to know what's real.

If so that is pretty stupid imo. So no HUD, no HK, no XM/Sirius, and no extended Shadowline for the 30i. Might as well just switch to a 40i.

Weird.. I just had our sales rep pull the build sheet for our 30i... HUD, Shadowline, etc all still on there. The only thing that was deleted since ordering was SiriusXM. It's still in status 111 for week 44.

$10K for the M40i will be a lot to swallow for all those who were stretching budgets for the 30i. For those on a tight budget with their heart set on a 30i just lease a M40i and get the features you want and

My M40i went into production today. Satellite radio got scratched but HUD, HK, extended shadowline and all other goodies are still on the build. Not bothered by it because I use Spotify instead anyway. Maybe I'll get some cash back for the Sirius XM delete.

I don't drive a Macan GTS right now because it doesn't have a HUD, so no HUD would be a deal breaker.

I just made 150, was order Saturday.
It's happening in the Porsche world too… people's packages are being changed and options are being deleted, etc. It's all over (not just BMW).

Jon over at Bimmerfest posted the bulletins from BMW:

Sirius/HD deleted from ALL X3/X4 - $350 credit, hints that a retrofit will be possible when parts are available.

HUD, Shadowline, and the usual M Sport 19” tire (887) deletions only affect the 30is of the X3/X4. (At least for now.)

Global supply chain and logistics experts are saying the supply chain will not catch up for at least a year. And ALL car manufacturers are affected. Mercedes has stopped selling 8 cylinder models in the US (except top S Class). Ford and GM are parking hundreds of unfinished pick up trucks in fields hoping to get chips. Porsche is cutting back. Everyone is.

14 out of 15 pages worth of jobs say "Spring 2022" and are Intern/Co-op positions so I don't think that has much to do with the current delays.

It's embarrassing for a luxury brand to sell a car without xm/sirius radio and omit HUD.

I think BMW should halt production until they can get you all the parts for over $60,000 car it should have that and more.

I had an order in for all options except differntial.

Dealer said order went thru i am getting all the options, trakced the status today.

SUV Is in production and shadowline not listed and dealer didnt notify me.

None yet that I'm aware of yet. My CA recommended IND Distribution as a reputable source for aftermarket parts but they don't have the LCI grills yet. I called and they said they have an order in for them but they weren't sure when they'd arrive.

I may look into painting it in the meantime when my X3 M40i comes in. Talked to a reputable vinyl wrap shop too and they said trying to wrap the grill would be a mistake.

You can do vinyl wrap spray or peel coat, the coating can be removed when you have the shadow line part.

I don't think wrapping it would be an issue... since on the m40i it's just the outer border. I could see how wrapping the inner grates would be hard/impossible on the 30i. People have wrapped the outer frame many times in the past on other BMW models. Did they elaborate as to why they felt that way? Worst case if it didn't work out / last, it's easy to peel off, unlike paint.

Has anyone been able to find the part # for the shadowline grille for the 2022 LCI models yet? I know they probably can't be ordered due to the stock shortage but I was curious on the MSRP.

That may not look that great compared to the oem part. Its frustrating parts are being taken away with no notification they need to notify customers and sales people so that people can make a informed decision.
