I call BS on the " 89 octane delivery fuel. "
Quote:
1- makes you think twice about an outfit that would knowingly put a car on the dyno with less than adequate fuel. 2- makes you think twice about an outfit that would slander the local dealer in an attempt to market their own product. That's just poor salesmanship. Ask me how I know.. I used to work in sales ! |

Wow. You boys can't tell the difference between a small m and a capital M? Why you gotta hate on the small m models ? Some people don't want the full on m treatment and that's ok. BMW has been making small m cars since the m635 and m535 so... then they made M technik... also made the 318ti clubsport And now in the 2000s they have added m sport and they just keep on coming with m235 and m240 and m850 and m340 so... you might want to figure it out ... |

Was this at all wheels or just the rears? I would think the driveline loss at all 4 would be between 20 and 25%. Combine that with 91 or higher fuel, well, you got yourself a rocket.

Oh hang on, you guys use a different octane rating to Europe...not only are your gallons the wrong size...🤣 Over here, you wouldn't put less than 95 RON in, which is the lowest petrol you can buy in the U.K., which is equal to US 91 (still means US 89 is rubbish).

BMW has been diluting the M brand since the late 90's, I don't understand why this is shocking to anyone, especially when cross-overs are the top seller in America.

noun: dilution the action of making a liquid more dilute. the action of making something weaker in force, content, or value. "he is resisting any dilution of dogma" a liquid that has been diluted. plural noun: dilutions the degree to which a solution has been diluted. "the antibody was applied at a dilution of 1:50" FINANCE a reduction in the value of a shareholding due to the issue of additional shares in a company without an increase in assets. Still trying to figure how adding more M " dilutes " the brand. If anything the brand is stronger with more * M * infused across the lineup. BMW is sprinkling more M throughout the lineup, while adding new tiers of badass... and that's dilution. I'm seeing the same " dilution " over at Porsche, AMG, AUDI.. it's called SUCCESS ! I know people are just whining and pining for the good old days when BMW made only three M models ... and guess what ... I WAS THERE ! .. but make your whining sensible... man. Holy crap who wants to go back to the days of just M3, M5 and M6? |

Truth be told, M cars are plenty special, but no longer as special as non-M cars because non-M cars have gotten pretty damn good. Drive an M340i or an M240i and you know exactly what I mean. This also means that people pay way more for M cars than they should when 90% of the performance can be gotten in a top-end non M car like the M340i I just don't understand the prestige bootlicking here; you as a consumer are now getting more bang for the buck... do you really want to pay shit tons more for a badge and a marginal increase in power and performance? Stop lamenting the M betrayal. We have faster, better performing cars now, cheaper. Yes, you can gatekeep the badge all you want, and cry foul when M cars are no longer as good than non-M cars, but in doing so you do yourself a disservice as a consumer. Maybe, M cars should be cheaper, and not so prestigious after all. However they keep on commanding high prices (with shit residuals) because of badgelicking masses. No different than the Chinese and their big shiny grill fetish. |

Now, let's explain the definition you looked up but can't seem to comprehend. We used to just have the M3, M5, and M6. True drivers cars with little in the way of comfort aside from essentials. Then, in the late 90's, BMW started adding more "looks and sparkles" M stuff while simultaneously shifting the M cars from old to new. And here we are today (the trend continuing), where there is literally an M car for every number up to 8 and the technology inside of them is cutting edge and frilly at times. It's willfully ignorant to ignore the fact that BMW has brought a lot of "pretty parts" with the M moniker, made M cars more accessible to the masses, and doubled the number of available M cars (at times without much reason, see M3/M4 for an example as those used to just be different trim levels)... And what do we call that? Dilution. Boomer.
