I've got the jet black 699M wheels but I think I'm going to switch to the 718M 21's because I don't want the space saver spare, looks like a real annoyance to the trunk space (in my opinion). So gonna call my dealer tomorrow to change it. I didn't realize when I ordered it that it came that way, I wouldn't have picked the wheels had I known. Did anyone else stay away from the jet black wheels because of the space saver spare setup?
I am. At first I wanted the 787 and now that they aren't available I do like the 699. I'm planning on phytonic blue and at first wasn't considering shadowline and now thinking about that and how black wheels would look. The only thing keeping me from doing that is the spare. I'm planning picking one up eventually so I can pack it on longer trips.
My dealer is painting my 699M Bi-colors to a gloss black upon arrival for $600. May want to check to see if that's possible. I did not want the space saver spare messing up the floor. Later on down the road I plan to switch to non-RF tires and at that point I'm going to purchase a tire mobility kit. That will work just fine here in Texas.

HUGE NEWS!

my SA just emailed me with a production number and I just went to BMW.com to check it out and its there!

Also, I just looked at my build and it says "20" M Double-spoke black HP RF"
I'm going to call my dealer to confirm if these are the non-RF tires or Run flats and if I can take away the Space saver or not.

Mine says the same thing online but the detailed spec says High Performance Non run flats. This is def confusing. Please update the post with what you find out The option code is 1VP.

I too overlooked it and thought nothing of it till i saw that thread. I obsessed over it for about 2-3 days before i called the dealer and removed the option from my build. Fortunately was able to remove it in time, week 21 build here. I couldn't get over the loss of trunk space and weighed in that id be using the trunk space way more often than id be using a spare, plus i live in a very populated city so its not like i wouldnt have resources.

I went through the same agony after seeing the actual trunk with spare. I’m still in status 111, but decided to keep the spare because this will be our main road trip car, and there are hundreds of miles between cities out here in the desert.

Just got confirmation that my build is indeed with Non run flats so the spare option is a must. Will contact my dealer to see if the 699 Jet black have an option for RF to get rid of the spare, if not my options are to switch to the silver 699 with RF tires OR stick with my current build.

Also, genius said my build will be a Week25 build (June 19th)
If theres no delays I should have the car maybe first week of July.

Confirmed that "RF" designation is misleading in the description. Mine are Non-RF. I don't mind the cargo config. This will be my DD and trip vehicle. So I wanted the spare and don't need the space. I have a Massive Honda Pilot for utility and grandkid transport.

Week 22 build is scheduled for production as of this morning. Didn't get the wheels changed in time so I will be sticking with the spare. Not the end of the world to me, I was hoping to fit a large dog kennel in the trunk but it was questionable without the spare.

I currently have a fully optioned 2017 X3 x28i. I originally ordered a 2022 X30i in January and cancelled a week or so later when I realized all the options I have in my 2017 (which I decided I can't live without) were not available in the 2022 X30i.

After a few weeks of stewing and then convincing the other half to move up to the M40i for the missing options, placed an order for the M40i first week of February. The dealer told me he had no allocations and there would be a wait.

The order was finally accepted May 2nd with production scheduled for week 25.

This is the longest I have waited for a BMW.

Back in 2018, I order my 430i convertible end of August (built overseas) and it was at the dealer beginning of October.

I hope it's worth the wait and extra cost.

So today the status changed to 153, entering assembly line, with a prod date of 5/21/22. I am so pumped.

Has anyone on a waitlist received an allocation this week?

The jet black wheels are currently not listed on the bmwusa website. My SA just called me to inform me that I still have the jet black wheels but the NRF tires are being changed out to RF tires. So FYI to anyone else with same tire/wheel setup.

Interesting, do you have the option to not select the spare tire now too?

I want the jet black but do not want the raised floor with the spare tire and would try the spare tire fit that some others have done.

I would think you could remove that option if your build hasn't hit production yet. Others have posted being able to modify their options as long as it is not in production yet.

I don't even have a build yet. 2nd in inline for the next allocation, kind of hoping for a call this week and if not, ok with waiting for a 2023.

my SA just told me the same thing. Getting black 699 with RF now.

I'm still going to keep the spare, as I already accepted that fact and I will be switching to All seasons anyways.

Order placed early April. My SA told me over 2 weeks ago that I was first in line for the next allocation, but nothing yet. Wondering if I should just wait for a 2023. I would totally pay for passenger lumbar support if available.

Wish I could say this has been a good experience. Sounds like others get far better communication from their SA.

I check in with mine from time to time. It’s a tough time in the car industry and there isn’t a lot of communication from the factory. Sometime around March the M40 became super constrained.

This should be the week dealers find out about the next round of allocations. My dealer didn’t get any last month so who knows what will happen.

Yeah my 699M Non-RF jet blacks got changed to Bi-Color RF and they said there's nothing they could do about it. I will have to have them painted black if the dealer can do it.

Maybe a dumb question... but I placed my order with a dealer earlier this week. How are you guys getting these status updates? Is there something I need from my dealer? Or will BMW just email me as things get into motion?

You need your production number then you can call the BMW genius line and get set up the tracking. If you don’t have a production number you did not get an allocation.
