Just revisiting this after searching for MSS springs again. Jumping back to the first posts it looks like the springs have seen a £500 increase in price alone in 2 years

Should have purchased some when I was debating it on my pre lci

KW V3 also jumped on the price to USD3254, lol.
And you'll lose the EDC.

Both have advantage and disadvantages. Depending on your goal.

Does anyone know if the MSS springs for a 2021 X3M will fit a 2022 x4m comp?

Trying to get some help.

Having my MSS installed tommorrow, and I want to get it is low as possible without running into bump stop.

What is the adjuster collar gap spacing to achieve that? I think MSS recommends 20mm rear and 5mm front for the lowest recommended height. Is that accurate?

Got the MSSs installed and hide height adjusted. Really happy with ride and handling quality.

I am dealing with a binding/clunk noise from the front passenger suspension while turning at low speeds or while quickly turning steering wheel while parked (can't hear it at above 10mph).

Mechanic installed per instructions and checked all bolts a few days later.

Sounds to me like the spring or maybe the sway bar end link. Taking it to another shop for inspection and alignment soon, but would love to hear thoughts.

Here is a vid of noise: https://youtube.com/shorts/WC0zeXfg_uM?feature=share

I've been told you need an alignment right after installing MSS.

Thanks - This noise does not seem to be alignment related. Might be a mis-installed top hat on passenger side. The spring on noisy side spins independent of the shock - I think it is supposed to move in unison (at least that's how it moves on drivers side, which makes no noise).

Looks like I found the issue.

Checked box with unused stock parts that mechanic returned after install. Looks like he somehow missed installing this bearing on the passenger front. This would explain the binding when turning..ugh.

Getting it fixed (at different shop) next week.

Bummer... glad it was in the box and he didn't discard/lose it.

To close loop - Got my noise issue fixed - ended up taking it to an experienced BMW shop and had them redo the front install and replace both top mounts up front. Shop owner strongly suggest new top mounts when doing front suspension. Seems now like cheap insurance to assure a quiet install.

Quiet as stock now and although I never thought he stock ride was too harsh - the MSS definitely soften the ride enough to make a difference. The 3 suspension modes are now more meaningful/apparent with MSS.

From my understanding, they don't sell the top hat bearings itself. I think it's a whole unit with the metal top hat. Mine used to make a noise after install. Upon investigation, when turning the wheel, passenger side bearing, spring, and the top portion of the adjuster was turning together making the noise. I ended up dropping the front to max low. Also twisted the spring left to right multiple times to make sure the bearings were seated properly. Solved the issue. I still get a minor clicking noise when going full lock. I believe this is due to the strut bolt and but. I think it needs to be torqued to exact spec or I'll get a new bolt and nut on both sides.
I did hear some suspension hardwares a one time use?

So today was the day I had the MSS kit fitted to my 2022 x3 m40d, the vehicle has only done 1000 miles, the last 500 miles on Eibach springs, the Eibach springs Lower the rear 25mm and the front 30mm.

When I dropped the x3 off this morning for the mss kit install i was asked how low I wanted it I stated the max as I was already informed "the X3 will lower the same as the X3M. MSS recommend a 20mm positive rake. This will still lower the X3 more than the Eibach springs" so once the mss kit was installed and they carried out a road test I was asked to come and have a look, my first impression was disappointing, it sat higher both front and rear then the Eibachs, even though I was informed the MSS should lower it considerably more, this wasn't the case, I was told it would settle a bit but it certainly was lacking the stance of the Eibach springs, my journey home was 120 miles leaving the motorway and negotiating an island (roundabout in the uk) with some enthusiasm the body roll was quite alarming whereas the Eibach's give a feeling of confidence, another thing that is quite noticeable is the back end when you accelerate hard from a slow speed it feels really soft and bouncy on the rear.

Seems some confusion on the rake as the email stated 20mm when i called MSS they said 15mm, I only have a 6mm gap on the rear and the fronts are fully down.

I would like to point out it's no fault of the fitting company they have been supplied the kit by MSS and took great care with my vehicle however I don't think the mss is suitable for the x3 m40d G01 there's quite a few issues with the handling now that wasn't there before.

I think KW coilover adaptive suspension is the way to go.

Hi all, new member to this chassis. My wife is getting ready to sell her G20 M340i and get herself into a F97 X3M. She is a car gal like the rest of us and is already looking to lower the X3M when we pick one up.

I've never been fond of lowering springs, was always told it's the cheap route and usually puts more wear on stock struts. Does this general rule still apply to the MSS setup? I owe her a set of coilovers and it seems that KW is the only other option.

Measured the gap on the rear and there's 5mm, the fronts are fully down.

Can any member with x3m measure front and rear middle of wheel to fender so I can check for comparison.

What you were told are true if the spring wasn't designed for stock shock and installed properly.
I have been lowering most of my cars with lowering spring and stock shocks since the 90's. So far all of them lasted as long as I own the car which is an average of 3 years 30k miles.
I have had and seen customer with coilover that is blown after a year of normal street driving. Known brand too.

Based on my usage and testing, if you follow my recommendation and installed properly, it will not prematurely wear out the shock.

But, if you don't care about losing the EDC, KW V3 is a solution too.
Expensive but good once dialed up properly.

Your setup is different than X3M.
Also, what you are measuring is not the rake or amount of drop.
That is just the height adjuster gapping.

Since you are in UK, why don't you get in contact with MSS directly.
