Another LED headlight question

Evening , I’ve been reading the posts regarding the various types , so after having mine for aweek and been driving home at night I’ve got to experience the LED lights .
So mine do move left to right , have to manually turn on/off high beam
And I have cornering lights .

My question is and I can’t beleive I asking this is what are the lights circled in the picture because they are not high beam as this is in the same bulb as the dipped ( outside light) neither are they the fasher or parking as these are the DRLS I’m lost , I have lights that don’t seem to do anything

Help

It's a dummy on the 5A4 light.

Maybe. :-) I assume the high beam is quiet sufficient?
Of course it's always good to get more. :-)

IMO the low beams are good and the high beams are decent, not great.

Hi,
It’s from the G01 technical training documents that I saw a while back posted on here.
There are about 12 documents in all that cover most of the systems on the new X3 in great detail.
Here they are:-

Yep.
Unfortunately it's the American spec, so some things are left out for us over here.. but the G30 or G12 guide can help as well.

Thanks Steve. I think the training documents thread should be made 'sticky' since they are essentially an extension to our manuals...

For some reasons, the pdf files attached in that thread will not show in the Bimmerpost App that I use 99% of time... so I posted a web link there in that thread too for folks like myself...

Got a link to the other models? Also, both App link and web link will be great!

so according to the PDF there are three different type of lights, on full adaptive led there are two low and two high beams per headlight, which probably explains why on the mid level LED they use a dummy light for continuity across the line.

Google is your friend. Or the forum search function.

For the 3rd option with anti dazzle (not mentioned and enabled on us spec cars), there's actually quite a few high beam LEDs/segments. Three per side, if I'm not mistaken.

For the 2nd level, the DRLs are as you noticed symmetrical with classic bmw circles, sort of, two per side.

It is to have a consistent look in the BMW line-up. Base X3 with halogen lamps (seldom found on dealer's lot though) and full-LED X3 both use all four lights.

Previous F25 X3 also had dummy lights if equipped with Bi-Xenon upgrade.

I believe the high option adaptive led headlights offered in the states are the same you can get in the EU they just have that feature turned off. my theory makes sense both because pictures of EU headlights with anti dazzle look just like mine but if you have two high and two low beams per headlight and they are micro motorized you can move in all directions including opening a tunnel of low beam in the midst of high beam. Of course you might know better than me as you can actually see these cars in person and not have to rely on web pictures where people post things in ignorance constantly, IE i just googled X4 antidazzle headlight pictures and in the stream was a picture of a mercedes Sclass.

Yes I think it was that I tried to write.
According to the coding guru Almaretto it seems like something small is actually missing to make it a complete anti dazzle light, even though all coding is done. On the option 552 light offered in the states. Perhaps this is not fully sorted out, yet.

i know the Adaptive LED assembly used in US is different than EU version(s). On US cars there is a small yellowish orange corner marker light that is absent in EU. Other difference is quite possible that makes full anti-dazzle function impossible for US cars...

Are you talking about the front yellow turn signal light? If so, that's option-dependent, at least in the US.

If it is different HW (too lazy to dig into realoem), it feels like sub optimising things. Probably cheaper to use the same HW all over, and just do it with coding.. So many Market adaptions done in SW already ...

At least it looks better on the G01 than on the F25 where if you looked closely into the center of the dummy light, you'd see a circuit board. LOL - they couldn't even cover it up.
