I was just about to ask how much it costs in the us. First m car....I'm a total noob.
Lmao; just had my X3MC done this past Thursday and this thing digs deep! It's so fast and the exhaust note on a hard acceleration is crazy cool! Apparel they do unlock something in the computer that holds the vehicle back while it's breaking in....no joke this feels as fast as my '17 X5M. These are a real bargain.
Really?

I am getting mine done today.
Been burning gas like mad to get it to 1200 miles, lol.

Also got hit with a delay on our 1200 mile service. Dropped it off and the dealer kept it for 4 days due to lack of filter supply. Not sure why they schedule appointments without the parts on hand.

The 1,200 break-in service "unlock" is just a myth. Full power and capabilities are available from day 1.

0w30. Thankfully

I still switch to 0w40 during the summer though.

Never had to have a car serviced so early - is this specifically for this break in period? Do M cars have a shorter timeframe/usage between getting it serviced?

Yes all M cars require 1,200 miles break in service. Non-M cars do not.

Thanks but what's the oil spec? Is it LL-01? Something else?

My first quote was £582 for the service.

I've got Sytner down to £440 and mines booked in for the 17th December. I've got 150 miles on the clock now.

That's not good. BMW UK only honour warranty's if the service is done within 500
Miles.

This will impact resale too - you need to raise with BMW FS and BMW UK as soon as you can.

Is break in service required on X4 M40d? I haven't heard anything from Sytner regarding this service.

Shocking.

I've asked for a quote so I'll wait and see. It wouldn't give me a quote on the online service portal.

You're gonna have to make lots of trips to the shops.

£399 at my local garage, they should really keep them at fixed prices across the board

They are also best part of £100 cheaper for the first proper service so that is where mine will be going for that unless Eastern(supplying dealer) match the price.

Aberdeen BM Quoting me £400. Unusual for them to be competitive.

Just brought my car in for break-in service and it is for free, as expected. Also saw this awesome black 8 series gran coupe and I instantly fell in love with it. Thinking of buying one as my leisure car.

How long did take it for the 1200 mile service ? Is this an all day thing ? Dealership is telling me it will take all day, not something that I can wait 2 hours for

Seriously? Not apples to apples, but the break-in service for my M2 Comp was only a few hours and done. I cannot imagine why it would be an all day service??? It is an engine oil and diff fluid change.

I just took the M2 Comp in for its annual service and it was only an hour or two as well.

Mine took 1.5 to 2 hours. I was offered a loaner but I ended up just waiting.
