Yes, I know that, thanks.
But it is really inconvenient. I even thougnt to short the seatbelt switch, but if there is coding option - it will be the better solution.
If coding doesn't work, have you also thought about getting a seat belt buckle that you could click in? Several options for just a few bucks.

If you mean automatically come on with highs...I would guess that is a tough one.

What I do is leave it on the automatic lights and any time I can think about it, I press the fog light switch. This turns on lights full power and the fogs.

Yep, exactly what I mean. This would be extremely handy for cars sitting in overtaking lanes.. Imagine going to flick your high beams and the fogs come on/off with each flick? You'd look like a truck and definitely get their attention to move!!

So your coding essentially has high beams coded to fogs? i.e. the other way round to what I'm proposing?

I can start a new thread if this would be a hijack.

Finally got the adapter and paid for the app. Followed instructions but maybe did something wrong? Please see my comments next to each step in case it's operator error...

Connecting with a Bluetooth adapter (iOS)
1. Disable CarPlay in the iOS settings if active.
-> Never used CarPlay so don't think it's active? Tried on both Iphone and Ipad

2. Disconnect the Bluetooth connection to the iDrive systen and any additional Bluetooth connections.
-> Told Iphone to forget BT of car. Ipad never hooked to car. No BT connections when tried using either device

3. Turn on the ignition in the car or start diagnostic mode in G Series cars (press the start button in the car three times in quick succession without pushing the brake or clutch pedal).
-> This step worked perfectly. Said it was in Diagnostic Mode

4. Plug in the adapter into the OBD port in the footwell on the driver side.
-> Plugged in and green power light came on, blue BT light blinking

5. Enable the Airplane mode on the iOS device.
-> Check

6. Turn on Bluetooth on the iOS device.
-> Check

7. Open the BimmerCode app and check if the correct adapter type is selected in the settings.
-> Check

8. Tap on “Connect” in the start screen.
Gives Cannot Connect error

Selected X3 G01. Any ideas? Do I have a defective adapter or did something incorrect?

Thanks for any suggestions!
In case you haven't figured this out:

I also had lots of issues connecting until I figured out the correct order of steps.
1. Plug in adapter and connect via BT to ipad/phone (air plane mode, disable wifi, and close all other apps).
2. Open BC app and select car, but don't press connect yet...
3. Put car in diagnostic mode by rapidly pressing ignition 3 times.
4. IMMEDIATELY press "Connect" in BC app.
Now I connect every time.

Yes I was able to get this connected. Instructions didn't say to connect OBD adapter to BT (a critical step)

Thanks for documenting so there will be less trial and error in the future.

1. Has anyone been able to code anti-dazzle with Bimmercode, without having to change VO codes with Esys?
2. My '18 M40i has Icon Adaptic LED, but VIN reader does not indicate 8S4 (while my '16 750 does), does that mean VLD is already enabled on the X3? I wasn't aware any US vehicles are VLD-enabled.

Since the dealership performed the software update on the X3 today I had to go back in and do some coding again. This time around I did the following:

ASS to remember last setting
Always start in Sport mode
Disabled the driver and passenger seatbelt chimes
Disabled the pop up messages at startup and for the camera
Enabled full text message display

I paid for my Android version in about mid April. In the three months since, there have been at least five versions, including a recent one from v. 1.x to v. 2.0.0-5267.

So I added an amp and subwoofer to my trunk so I decided to change the sound profile setting in expert mode. It makes a huge difference. Mine was on profile 4, and I changed it to profile 6. The increase in sound and spread spectrum is quite noticable. I can't listen to my music more than 60% volume now

You may also experiment with the EQ_VARIANT setting. The comments in E-Sys suggest that for cars with the advanced headunit, the equalization curve is controlled by EQ_VARIANT.

I checked the demo mode but don't see anything.

I do; however, see these 2 screens, but not sure which settings so what.

Which one should I get for an X3 M40i? Ideally one that will let me get to the advanced settings, mainly anti-dazzle.

I have the MX+ and it codes very well using BimmerCode. As already in the forums, make sure you follow the steps of:
1) Plug the MX+ in first
2) Connect your phone to the MX+ via Bluetooth.
3) Put your G01 into developer mode (push start 3 times)
4) start BimmerCode and connect.

With the Alpina display active, does the M logo show up? I didn't think there was a spot on the Alpina display for it.
