X3M Comp

I have my 2nd X3M which is a comp. I had the dealer due the update prior to delivery and I unfortunately have the Contis, and zero complaints. If your worried about ride comfort you are looking at the wrong cars in every line up. Go get a Lexus if you want a plush ride.

I find it strange that so many people have complained about the ride quality. Get a normal X3 3.0 with M sport.

Just got the I-level (that's how they call it in Canada) updated from S15A-20-11-542 to S15A-21-03-550 yesterday.

There's definitely a noticeable improvement in both suspension dampening and transmission.

It is finally at a level that's acceptable, as I've always felt the original tune felt like the springs were bouncy and bottoming out at nearly every speed bump or large pothole, even if I drive thru it really slow. And transmission would hold gears randomly for too long and I would have to shift it myself. With this update, it's finally addressed and I'm really happy with the result.

BMW really should be advertising and offering this update to all X3M, X4M owners.

I thought the opposite. Although I previously had a non-comp M4, the F97 Comp has the harshest stock suspension of anything I've driven... to the point where I change my daily commute to smoother roads.

I remember the ride quality complaints about the Comp from my F80 days...that might have been the first car that kicked off a series of models that were poorly reviewed for ride quality. If I remember correctly BMW also released an update that attempted to mitigate the ride issues.

The ride isn't awful but I do wish the differences between comfort and the sportier modes was more distinct. Why can't the ride be sedate in comfort and sporty in sport?

Yours was already a 2021 model? Or updated last year?

Does anyone know if the istep suspension update applied for 2021 model years or 2020 only? My dealer is saying there's no update available for my VIN.
Thanks
