giving up F90 COMP

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
So i really been upset past few weeks. this corona virus hit my biz hard and as of now i do not have any income. My biz will start up again but who knows when that will be. So i have a guy taking over my lease through BMW financial . Im torn over this. In no way wanted to make this move but i would have to keep paying the car through my savings and not sure at 1100.00 a month that is a good move. the price for my M5 is phenomenal. So here is my point. I have a 2020 X4M Comp Alpine white/Ivory interior on hold at the dealer until they reopen which may be in 45 days . As of now my payment is at 825.00 per month for 85,600 car. what the salesman told me is wait this out and most likely BMW will be offering more incentives due to the economy. i test drove the X4M and have to say i did enjoy it. the new engine is real nice. i was impressed with the X4MC.It corners very flat for its size. My question is would any of you keep paying for the M5 through your savings and not sure when biz is going to come back, or get rid of the car you love, and jump on this X4M comp when your income comes back to normal. Or Would it be best to call BMW and get differed payments which i think their doing for 60 days . So confused. any of you that have the X4M can you give me some insight how you like the vehicle. has anyone gone from an F90 to a X4M?

Sorry to hear your situation.

I have drove quite a few of customers M5, and test drove some X3MC and X4MC, before I finally decided to order the X3MC.

I think the X3MC / X4MC is more nimble compares to F90 M5.
On the long straight, yes, the F90 M5 will keep on pulling hard.
But for DD, I think TwinTurbo Inline6 is more usable and fun.

Tough one, sorry to hear your situation.

I have had 2 F10 M5s and loved them apart form lack of grip. Although I enjoy my X3MC it would be the M5 for me. Apart from lack of grip I could not fault the F10 whereas I find it easy to find fault with the X3MC

If you haven't seen you can get payments deferred for a few months on your M5 lease. You pay them at end of lease. Not sure if that helps your situation but something to consider. Your X4M monthly is very good, so not a bad option there at all.

sorry to hear your situation hope its over soon and you can get your business back to normal
My though would be to contact BMW first to see what help they can offer before you make any decisions
good luck and take care through this nightmare

if you get a good deal, get out now. the prices will fall through the floor (maybe a bit exagerated) and many others in your situation will pull out of deals / pre-orders and the dealers will need to move stock.

that is my guess!

If your that concerned I’d wait for business to pick back up rather than just waiting for the dealership to open back up and spend circa 800pm

OP sorry to hear about your situation but I think you are absolutely doing the right thing. I'm sure things will return to normal someday but who knows when. You will always be able to pick up a nice bmw when your income returns.

I’d move the M5. Keep my savings. Make a new car decision after my business was back 100%. Then you can make a rational decision on M5 vs X4M. Too soon to decide. Best of luck !

+1

I am in the same boat but still hanging in there. Hopefully can qualify for some of that relief money for small businesses. If it comes to me using savings to pay for a car I will dump it right away and get another one when business picks up no question in my mind. I am sure you love the car but it's just a car

If you can move the M5 now, I would add that getting _any_ decent used car in the interim to lower expenses would be even more prudent. There will always be X4MC to be purchased in the future.

I'd say stick with your 5. As exciting as the X4M is, it isn't at all a practical car. I traded my x5 50i and evening though this has more hp...I'm missing the sound and feeling of the 8 cylinder.

Better to miss the V8 sound than food on the table, don’t ya think?

Not sure that this has been asked but are you even driving much these days? I'm certainly not and I don't see that changing for me in the next few months.

If you're in the same boat, I would save the money rather than paying for something you're not getting the opportunity to enjoy.

I would get rid of the M5 lease asap and cancel the X4MC. Just use another vehicle you may have or lease something cheaper till your business cash flow improves. I would never eat away at my savings if my business was suffering for any luxury vehicle.

I agree with this advice You don’t know how bad it will get or when things will improve and the last thing you want is a monthly payment.

I would likely buy a corolla or Elantra which is good on gas until I got back on my feet.

If housing or food ever becomes a concern the last thing you’ll be worried about is a luxury vehicle.

I’m sorry you are going through this.

I appreciate all your input regarding getting rid of my M5. reading through all your opinions , i think right now it is in my best interest to have this gentleman take over my lease. i own bakeries and service many schools. its not a question of if their coming back my schools, its just when . its the uncertainty which makes me nervous. again i appreciate all your input which makes it easier to make this decision .

I doubt he will want to go from M5 to Corolla or Elantra. I certainly couldn’t do it. X4MC seems like a reasonable option. A legit fast fun M car that is significantly cheaper to lease than M5.
