Hey it wasnt a E63 sadly. Just a Brabus clone, tune, catless, big turbski all that and 0 issues with it. I was assuming I would break it soon but nope.
I literally tuned it the next weekend I got the car, so a lot of very hard miles and still nothing.

Only thing I broke myself is I melted the back bumper diffuser by running 110 Oct. Who new race gas ran that hot?? Im so used to E. I assumed everything burned cooler Vs 93 L O L .

But its gone. I have a 2024 GLE now. I really wanted a RS6 wagon but the GLE is bigger and the tech is way better than the Audi.

So the same exact thing happened to me, car had to be towed to dealer and is currently there. Denied under warranty because they say they could see the data in the car… and even went as far to say they could see the car’s launch control was used and that it is disabled from factory which is completely not true.

My car was also involved in a rear end collision but even less severity.

Car had JB4 and XHP stage 3 which were all removed prior to being inspected.

Long story short, it’s going to come out of pocket at this point. Also car will also be flagged so def time to send it!

See attached images. I will report back when completed.

WTF....I'm sorry to see that. But why the rear diff? Are they saying it was damaged cause it look like the driveshaft took the hit and snapped exactly like mine did. Is it making noise-clunking grinding? does it still spin? Do you have the m-sport diff?

My driveshaft cost me 3018.39 total with parts and labor, they charging you 3236 for just the driveshaft?

Exactly!
I am
Literally being charged list price for the rear diff which to me doesn’t looked damaged and I also agree it looks exactly like it snapped where yours did. Definitely lots of clunking and grinding when we I put it in drive or reverse. Only stops making noise in park or neutral. Non M-Sport diff. Still spins. PM me please and I can send you the full video as I would like to compare it to your video. Maybe I can just replace the driveshaft which I can get much cheaper thru my wholesale account.

Lemme know!

Quick update, nothing resolved from BMW and ended up going with an upgraded driveshaft in fear of it breaking again. Will get pics of install soon. East coast driveline is amazing and has made it an option to now purchase from their site directly since all the legwork and measurements are done.

I’m looking into east coast driveline as well. Any chance you weighed the driveshaft?

Sorry you had to deal with all that bullshit, man.

Hadn't seen the EC driveline driveshaft, but Vargas makes a CF upgrade. Curious if it works or could be made to work for the M40i.

I think the Vargas is X3/4 M fitment only.

super sorry to hear about what happened...

Can I ask, if you have a tuning box installed in your car (JB4) and remove it for servicing under warranty / service plan, BMW can see you've had a tuning box?

Under certain warranty claims if BMW Corp request the dealership to dig deep into the multiple computers in the vehicle and see that certain parameters have exceeded stock values, they will assume that something has been added to affect the part that is in question for warranty. Although during a normal visit for service the dealer will not "look" for it.

LOL A worldwide billion dollar company who has to warranty their own product in the first few years isn't gonna look the other way and give out free repairs.

I know two different apples but still.
That new driveshaft looks solid.

I know that Audi UK put out an internal memo to all dealerships to scan all cars that come in for servicing and warranty work for any ECU flags or TD1 codes, which basically means engine tunes.
Unsure if BMW automatically do the same?

Well you can blame the dealer at time. Sometime they exaggerate the repairs in order to suck money out of either the company or the consumer.
My case, 2021 G01 M40 with a noise coming from the front right. Took it to the dealer and this so called service tech reported that it was a missing grommet under the airbox. Yeah ok. That’s not it wanna be tech. Second time , the shop foreman drove with me. Heard the noise and he called it out without hoisting the car up and checking underneath that it was the control arm. Yeah ok. Try again another quarter. So finally, they swapped my suspension with an another x3; but this time they changed both sides. They did not need to change both sides. I know it was the right suspension but they will do anything to justify the claim.

Well yeah suspension replacement within warranty is fine if your on stock suspension, but on lowering springs and trying to get something replaced forget about it. But what the OP asked if they will see the JB4 hooked up. Some people still believe that adding more boost or whatever to the engine to operate outside BMW "spec" and blow something up in the powertrain, that BMW will automatically repair it without doing their due diligence. Sometimes removing "it" doesn't automatically mean they fix it for free under warranty.

I'm just now reading this thread, and sorry for those who have experienced it. I had thought about a mild tune, but after reading this, never mind. I'll buy something else if I need more.

Food for thought: would it just be better to buy an X3M then, and have warranty coverage for the power you seek?

A mild tune shouldn't affect the driveshaft, there are other contributing factors that may have caused driveshaft failure.

Anyway if your not the type to modify a vehicle, then sure buying a higher model and having warranty is the path to go. I am not that type of person but to each their own.

I’m gonna take this to the next logical step

In hindsight, a year ago I should’ve gone with a custom color X4M rather than my BG M40i, given that I’ve done so many mods to it my warranty is pretty much worthless

That being said, even with an X4M, I still would’ve modded tf outta that car too

Give a man 400hp and he’ll want 500hp

Give a man 500hp and he’ll want 600hp

It’s simply the nature of the beast if you’ve got it in your blood

I have a different question.
While I fully agree that BMW will keep a tight grip on all warranty work, what I don’t understand is this;
Why does BMW promote Launch Control? Yes, I can understand this for M versions but not for regular 30i and 40i versions. Is this a big selling point or BMW is so confident with their engines that they believe consumers will not be able to abuse this no matter what they do.
Do other manufacturers do this?
