Very nice, congrats! You guys in Canada get beautiful wheel options that we don't get in the US.

I love all these cars so much and like comparing the details. My last car was a F80 M3 Comp.

Chose the M40i based on price and overall appeal...including daily driving etc...

I'm sure the X3M comp is definitely an upgrade overall but a little more stiff for the city driving.

How did you feel about torque delivery when comparing the two cars?

I do really love the way the M40i drives, especially in sport plus with my custom exhaust valves open.
I was all ready to trade in my X3 M40i for an X3M Comp a few months ago. After an extensive test drive, I decided not to. I agree the seats are great and the handling is definitely tighter. However, in my opinion the torque (throttle response) below 3K RPM is a total disappointment. It was not at all enjoyable to drive in typical stop and go driving. I decided to keep my M40i. I think it's unfortunate that this was not really mentioned in all of the "glowing" reviews of the X3M (except for Joe Achilles who thankfully covered this extensively).

Wow, I thought this might be the case regarding the torque differences...but wasn't sure.

Yes the torque response down low in the M40i is fantastic and the exhaust note is nice and deep with my custom valves open.

Thanks for sharing the info on the X3M. I would imagine you can feel the difference more so on the highway and blistering speeds.

Spot on about the response from X3M in some scenarios. There is one youtube video comparing the M40i and X3M on this (search for NEW BMW X3M Competition vs X3 M40i - Joe Achilles - see the end at 42:14) . The M40i was 1.5 seconds faster 25-60mph in 4th gear and almost 3 seconds faster 25-60mph in 5th gear.

Thanks...Just watched the whole video, it was an awesome comparison! Lots of great insight and details on both cars.

That's pretty amazing about the low end torque...even more of a difference than I thought.

Could not agree more - frustrating too that all the X3 are made here in the USA...

Torque delivery is a lot more linear and immediate on the m40i. But once the M's torque kicks in, it keeps going. It was really low on gas so I wasn't terribly into the throttle but I did get to take it on the highway and make several very easy passes. It gets up there very quick. Each time you drive a different BMW it makes you appreciate every other one you've driven for different reasons. Love this brand. They are amazing pieces of machinery. The m40i might just be the best all around vehicle right now. I'm very content with mine even driving 70 in eco pro mode on my commute. Makes going into sport plus all the more thrilling.

What did you do to ensure they were aligned and spaced perfectly? Other than the tape. I need to do mine but I'm nervous about it lol. Is it better to replace them one at a time?

Installed Vantrue's N4 3 channel dash cam. Glad the OBD power supply finally came out because it made things a lot easier.

Finished installing the Thule T2 Pro XT 2. Still waiting on my Trek order to come in before I load it up with 4 bikes. Dig it so far!

Met a fellow forum member to pick up a winter set. While on my way decent size pebble flew up and right into my windshield. Insurance will cover it thankfully. And had a chance to take some iPhone shots for the season.
