Disabling Horn When Locking While Running (UK car)
Hi All
My car is a X3 3.0d G01 2018 (UK car). Is anybody able to tell me if the double horn honk when locking the car while it's running can be disabled? I have searched for this but cannot definitively establish that it can be done so any help appreciated. If this has to be done by coding, can someone let me know the cheapest/easiest tool that can access the code - after searching i think it is something like VAM_HORN_AT_SECURE in BDC_BODY. I have looked at Carly's available options but cannot see this particular one. I'm new to coding so as much info as possible would be great. Thanks for reading and i hope it makes sense. |

LMAO _ this scared the shit out of me yesterday.
I was trying to defrost the car quickly at 7am on a V COLD Sunday morning, knowing that hot water on a freezing windscreen is not great I got a little salt in tepid water to defrost quicker. Anyhow, back to the point, my daughter was in the running car. I was outside dropping the water slowly all around. When I got to the driver's side window the water must have closed the connection on the comfort lock (it does that all the time and winds the f**k out of me when washing it - having the side mirrors retract too). However this time, since the engine was running the horn went BLAHHHHH BLAHHH. Scared the shit out of me, I didn't realise that was what it was :-) |

I will try again and report back. Could it be mine does not have comfort access? I think that's what it is called, essentially the locking where it detects the key and unlocks using touch on the door handle.

I couldn't get it work either but with a little perseverance I found the sweet spot (need nose of key touching glass). No doubt I will lose it when I really need to leave it running at 5am in a built up area.

Mine doesn't have comfort access, neither did my 440i. I don't think it's anything to do with what type of locking you have, I just think when you have the key right next to the window it thinks the key is inside, so doesn't beep to warn you you're leaving with the engine running.
