Has anyone heard anything on the horizon for the ID7 dashboard coding available with BC, in the near future?

I suppose it's possible the thread title has changed since you posted, but it now includes "& eSys".

Many of us think of eSys as the "real" way to code these cars. There are people who do this remotely for a fee but one can DIY as well.

As noted previously in the thread, there have been things that Bimmercode has never been able to do and which aren't planned, such as the highly-desirable "no-glare" or "anti-dazzle" high beams.

We have options to code the head unit already with BC.

I believe I've coded everything available that I wanted so far:
- Close trunk & windows from fob
- Seatbelt chime gone
- Swapped bronze ambient for red (looks awesome)
- M startup animation
- iD7 disclaimer gone

What I really want now is the flashing brake force display. I see you can alter some of the brake force parameters, but I haven't noticed the option for flashing brakes. Am I missing something, or are we still waiting for that in a future update?

Still not following you. There are 3 displays: Head-up Display, Control Display, and the Instrument Display. I’m wondering if by “dashboard” you’re referring to the Control Display?

I’m just reading between the lines here. Of course there’s no way to show the “instrument cluster” of speedometer and tachometer on the Control Display. That’s what the Instrument Display is for, and it would be risky and inappropriate to be trying to watch basic instrument data on the Control Display. My wife has a 2020 M40i with Live Cockpit and I’m not aware of any “tach dashboard” other than the tachometer that’s right where you’d expect it to appear In the Instrument Display

My M4 cabrio (ID 5 coded to ”6-minus”) can show a “sport display” on the Control Display. This consists of 2 round dials with needles for HP and torque. It’s impressively useless, not least because any time it might be showing anything remotely interesting would be when the driver should be watching the track or HUD and not the Control Display. The X3 M40i can show the same data set within the tachometer area of the Instrument Display in place of media information, trip computer, “Eco” display, or drive mode. It’s equally useless but at least in a location that’s less risky to watch. I haven’t checked to see if there’s an ID7 widget for the sport display.

So, if you’re referring to the Live Cockpit sport display from ID7, that would require Live Cockpit hardware and ID7. If you have those and your model doesn’t show the sport display, I’m fairly certain it could be coded to. My wife’s F25 X3 (with ID5) could show the same sport display as my M4 already, so if your G01 has ID6 I’m fairly confident it could be coded to.

If you’re referring to something else, perhaps a picture would help in case we’re using different terminology.

Edit: it just occurred to me that you might mean whether coding can accomplish a change in the appearance of the Control Display in ID7. I don’t think that would be possible unless there are secret widgets that can be turned on. Otherwise you’re limited to the widgets BMW provides and can only create new screens using those widgets.

Don’t mistake an M40i for a real M car!

Our 2020 M40i with Live Cockpit Pro doesn’t have any sort of “M dial”, just different colors for different driving modes as I expect all other models have. My M4’s HUD has an M display that can be selected that’s totally different from the regular one, with a ginormous tachometer arc with shift indication. (It’s ID5 and the instrument display has less LCD area than my wife’s slightly-older F25 had, so there’s little in the way that the dials could change.) The X3 M40i’s HUD can show a little thing analogous to that in place of the cruise control/lane keeping display but the rest of the HUD remains the same.

Since the same display panels and HU will probably be used for M cars, I suspect there is some sort of differentiated “M dial“ (and HUD) in there somewhere that can be made visible by coding, but I don’t think our M40i is different from other non-M X3’s other than in the model designation (//M40i) that appears at the top center of the Instrument Display. .

The 2020 X3 M40i HUD can display an RPM gauge in the HUD settings. you can only set it for the sport modes though. Closest you can get to an M HUD lol.

Lol I really did not think this should be this confusing. In BC there is a Headunit option that is currently grayed out because it is not available yet for ID7. I mean this is the BC thread and right in BC there is an option for Headunit. If Im being unclear then I dont know what else to say. -__-

I wanted to add that the M instrument display cluster does not have any M display lettering logo like the M40i does in the middle. The Alpina displays it in the middle too, but for the M version there is no logo.
Too bad, I hope this can get fixed.

Nice! What about VIM? Is that available now? I checked out the codemybimmer site and the thing I didn't like was that if you got a software update you have to get it coded again. With BC, you pay one time and a 3rd of the price and you can change options anytime you want.

Yes VIM is there. Works fine just wish that there was full screen option instead of fit the screen. Its tiny compared to the actual head unit screen.

Thanks for the confirmation. Waiting on my ODBII adapter. Hopefully it will be here when I come back from Thanksgiving trip. Now to wait for a MHD tune.

For me the M-logo is only visable in Sport Mode

I dont have the M logo at all. In all driving modes. And the driving mode is not displaying in the instrument cluster also on the M coded.

Is there a list of what can or can not be coded in a 2020 w Live Cockpit Pro?

Is there stuff that can be enabled - like Speed Limit display and stuff like that?
