Your iPhone has nothing to do with it. You need USB stick with a supported file to play on your car screen.

Came from factory like that. If I code to M, it says nothing. Of I code to BMW, it says M40d instead of i.

Lol well thats the point I was making. The M dials coding does not say anything. M40i is stock appearance, who wants that?
I hope BC fixes this in their next update.

Has anyone figured out how to turn on SMS / text messages on the iD7? Maybe not available yet on BimmerCode?
I bought a ODBLink MX+ and planned to use BimmerCode for it but came to realize that the forum instructions I had were for NBT Evo (iD6) and not MGU.

(What I really want is to be able to get text messages in car, to my surprise this was not possible in my new 2020 X3 M40i ...also just noticed today that my phone (Android) doesn't ring when I'm in vehicle, just get the notification on screen and HUD...what's that about!?)

Glad I found this thread lots of good info!

It's the Bimmercode & eSys thread. I use eSys.

Now that you've clarified that you're asking about a specific Bimmercode menu item, I can back out.

It wouldn't surprise me if the car's internal logic forbade that, since external logic makes it sort of silly. Coding consists of changing settings (flipping bits or changing values) that are already available in the modules, and I doubt BMW would have written this in for any reason.

Why would you want to default to Eco mode and also default to disabled ASS? ASS reduces fuel consumption substantially in typical driving situations involving stop signs, traffic signals, or stop-and-go traffic.

I don't get the hate for ASS. On my M4, it's disabled automatically when I'm in full-M mode (i.e., on the track) but on public roads it's never gotten in my way. I mean, every time an F-150 wants to race me, which is shockingly often, it's still a speck in my mirror moments after a light changes even if the engine is paused at the time. I'm infrequently in situations where I can use maximum acceleration without going through a vehicle ahead of me anyway, and I live waaaaaay out in the boonies.

Starts are very fast and unobtrusive and the engine will run any time it's necessary, such as for climate control or the generator, even in stopped traffic. The slightest movement of the steering wheel or moving ones foot off the brake will also start the engine, and if you have stop-and-do cruise control the engine will also start if the vehicle ahead of you moves at all, even with your foot on the brake.

I'm a fan. ASS saves some fuel and wear and tear on my engine even with my aggressive driving, and it is practically imperceptible. It's even less obtrusive on my wife's X3 M40i. If it gets in your way on a particular drive you can switch it off. In my case I'll sometimes wonder at a long light why my engine is still running.

With my DCT, the car isn't in gear unless power is applied, but on the X3 it's going to creep if you take your foot off the brake. Are people really saying they so frequently end up in situations where it's very important to get off the line as fast as possible and that they're able to get their right foot from the brake to the accelerator so quickly that the half-second it takes the engine to start is causing problems? If so, I'll argue that Eco mode is not the appropriate default mode for those drivers.

what module is the interior lighting is. I finally got around to coding our 2020 G01, turned on start/stop memory, video in motion, and off all the nag/warnings, but I couldn't find an option to set the bronze light to red.

The one module I could open was the body domain controller (said it didn't support my bluetooth interface).

As far as I'm aware, if you have the hardware for it (cameras) it'll already be enabled in your car.

The M dashboard is missing the M logo and the Dynamic Mode indication. It still is incomplete, and needs work. I was really hoping this would be my favorite one. The OEM M40i looks much better.

I just found a Bimmercode backup file saved in ITunes. Is this something that can be used to install the coding back quickly somehow?
Meaning we can change back to stock if someone wants to go back to OEM features prior to going to the dealer.
And once service is completed, now we can use a single file to load all the BC coded options back at once?
Anyone have experience with this perhaps?

iTunes typically is for iPhone/ iPad restore. There is iCloud Drive available for apps to store data.. that would be the best; but not many apps do this.

Every time you launch / read one of the system groups in BimmerCode; a backup is made for that system group. To restore back to factory; just select oldest backup from your Backups (button at bottom of BimmerCode when in a module). You need to do this for each system module.

The danger is if you erase, lose or replace your phone. In that case, a full restore from iPhone iCloud (or local iTunes) backup will also restore your old BimmerCode saves.. in theory. ;-)

So has anyone (mis)spent their free time over Christmas and the new year finding new "expert mode" tweaks that we all should need?

Having done the basics like Alpina displays and swapping brown for red in the ambient, am keen to figure out what other cool stuff i can do?
