LED Reverse Lights

Anyone installed/found led reverse lights for LCI F25? Someone else backed out my car and I saw just how hideous the halogen bulbs are.

Thanks in advance!

Are these bulbs 100% plug/play or is any 'coding' or other electrical mods required for functional operation?
Thanks/Bill

You have to code them. Just change bulb type to LED and code off the warm and cold checks so they don't periodically strobe.

Do those just plug in or do you have to solder?

Just plug in... then some light coding. No pun intended.

I used these. plug and play.

https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B01...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Found the necessary coding parameters within expert mode of Bimmercode app under FRM. Note the F10 5 series codes worked for me.

What is the purpose of the warm & cold monitoring?
Is that related to determining if a bulb is burnt out or ?....just curious.

Correct.

Cold check is at every start up. Warm check is an on going interval check while the vehicle is on.

I'd love a good thread to follow on LED-ing everything on an X3 from bumper to bumper, inside and out. I DESPISE my halogens, would love to update the look of my X3 all around.

Curious about how much more usable light there is shining backward when looking from the drivers seat with some of these LEDs. Many people claim how bright the LEDs are, but that is when looking directly into the light, not how much it lights up the area behind the vehicle. Post some before after pics showing how much they light up the area behind the vehicle.

For interior LEDs, I got several different sizes and styles of bulbs off ebay over the years and replaced all of the interior incandescent bulbs with LEDs, I think there were 20 of them..cost less than $20..

Pungo: I will see if I can grab my neighbor to help get couple pics with car stationary and in Reverse gear at end of day, near dusk.

Had car idling in my garage last eve, garage door half closed so I could view over shoulder from driver seat, the LED's do project a LOT more light than stock bulbs.

You make a good point. However, for me, I just wanted white light. The ones I have installed seem to put the same amount of usable light to the ground as the incandescent bulbs, but they look way better doing it.

I wish I had taken before and afters.

I have only done the reverse lights, cargo area lights, and the puddle lights at the bottom of all four doors. I don't know if the puddle lights are putting out any extra light, but they match the color of the LED's under the door handles now. The door pic on the top right is the before and bottom left is after. The cargo area LED's are putting out more light than the very dim incandescent bulbs that were in there. I don't have a before pic of the cargo area though

Also, if anyone knows why the pics of the doors got turned sideways and how to fix it I would appreciate the advice.

Hmmm... I said that the LED puddle lights match the ones under the door handles, but it doesn't appear to be the case now that I look more closely at the pics. The light coming from the other side of the door is coming from the door handle LED's and it doesn't match the aftermarket puddle LED's I installed. Looks like the factory ones might be around 6500K??? and the aftermarket ones are 5000K maybe I don't know. It is closer than the yellowish incandescent ones I took out though.

Think you're correct re: variance on bulb color temperatures.

I'm not sure about the rotated pic's; shot w/iPhone?....I use one and have this issue at times - I run a Windows PC and Apple stuff does not get along with it at times so sometimes pics are rotated.

Did any of these puddle lights/interior cabin lights require coding as well?

The interior lights and puddle lights do not require coding.

Part II coming tomorrow night, my neighbor got tied up and wasn't able to hold down the brake pedal w/car in reverse...no new backup light pic tonight, ugh.

My rear window is tinted, I won't be able to get decent pic looking back from inside the cockpit.

But next pic will give you sense about
Projection. At 2000 lumens these LED's put out a lot more light than standard filament type bulbs.
