Get it! You won't regret it!
If you have a 2020, it uses a B58D, so the maps are still in beta, but they should be coming out to prod soon. The Stage 2 E30 tune will easily put 500+ WHP down through all wheels. I've had JB4 and BM3 on both my previous 340i and on my 640i, as well as MHD on my '09 335. The JB4 was pretty comparable to BM3 on the 340i on stage 1 93, but the BM3 was a lot smoother. Stage 2 93 and especially stage 2 e30 on the 340i was a BEAST (even with stock cat ). I transferred my license to the X3 M40i for when the maps come out, and will probably do Stage 2 e30 on the X3 M40i as well. As for the 640i, the JB4 was great over stock, but the Stage 1 BM3 tune made the JB4 feel like it was stock, as the jump was significant. Again, really smooth. Unfortunately, I'm going to keep that one at Stage 1 due to the PWG turbo, the difficulty to self-install a good catless DP that has a flex pipe and is not some cheap VRSF that doesn't have the same mounting brackets or flex pipe, and the fact that the FMIC is a tight fit and there are only two options for that. My wife drives that one and she's happy with it so I'm happy she's happy. The MHD tune had to be installed from an Android device, and it was SLOW. I think it took about 35-40 minutes to do a tune on the 335. BM3 takes 2-3 minutes to unlock and apply the first flash, and only about 40 seconds to switch maps once already flashed. Different cars and DMEs, sure, but BM3 customer support is top notch! I'm a BM3 believer! |

These are all just new fuel/ignition maps, right? So the difference in them is all in how good the engine tuner is in extracting power and building a good curve. Doing this right takes a lot of time measuring exhaust gases and adjusting.
As to the tech/interface, definitely seems like BM3 has it figured out, based on what folks have said. Any thoughts on fuel economy? Also, those who use E30 maps, are you also using E30 fuel? |

Just to clarify. The initial DME "crack" with MHD on the 2020 M40i takes about 1-2 minutes. And any tune map change there after takes 20-40 seconds.

Yep, 93 plus 4-5 gallons of E85 to get E30. The curves have all been dyno and road tested/proven. Usually MPG is the same, perhaps slightly better, unless you drive it like you stole it and are constantly in high boost, then mpg may go down slightly, but not by much.

I did say HAD. I did mention different cars, different DMEs. Even if it has changed, I personally still would not go with MHD only because the bootmod3 setup is superior in use and installation IMO.

I am eager for results. WHP #s, 0-60 and 1/4, for the different stages and power options BM3 offers.

I'm looking at this for my 19' 30i. I know the typical "be careful about drive train warranty" applies with all tunes - does anybody have a link to threads where somebodies drive train warranty was denied because of a tune? This is my very first BMW and one of my slight worries is reliability/warranty. I'm still under 4-years, but I tuned my last car and it was worth every bit... I'm really just looking for affirmation to throw caution into the wind an do it
