Yes, iDrive 7.

There’s no REM either, but there is a Body Control Module, but that isn’t codeable using the V-Gate adapter.

Thanks for this guide. It took a few tries to get the OBDLink working - you have to get the OBDLink app. It kept disconnecting from bluetooth/doesn't show as connected, but having the OBDLink thing and upgrading the firmware made it work properly. I was about to return it when I decided to try that out first.

I tried to code the 5-times blinker, it shows up in the iDrive settings, but it will always go to 3 blinks. But I used it to get rid of the nanny messages, that was great.

Is there a way to have the rear camera always go to "auto" when put in reverse?

I'm not sure then - i just checked and for sure it is there on mine (X3M). Wonder if it is model specific?

even if you log-in as demo mode it shows (not even connected to car)

WOW thank you KZG for telling me I can turn on my rear cam whenever I wish! That's enough to get me to buy Bimmercode and whatever hardware I need to get it to work.

Hello,

I have an OBDLink LX, the up to date Link app. But I can't get it to connect to the car.

Could you confirm the adapter you have, it's version and manufacturing date and what firmware version you have it on please. Could you also confirm which protocol it then uses to talk to the car?

Mine pairs with Bluetooth fine, can upgrade\down grade the firmware etc but it refuses to actually connect to the car.

I have a 2020 G01 built Nov 2019 on iD7.

I've reached out to Smartlink support but so far no response.

Thanks in advance.

I'd suggest using the OBDLink MX+ adapter with BimmerCode as that combination is fully compatible and can confirm it works flawlessly.

It might be slower than an OBD cable with ENET Adapter, but works just as well.

Either OBDLink should work flawlessly. The key is to follow the connection steps that came with the adapter in order. Pay special attention to ensure your mobile is not connected to the car and also in airplane mode.

BimmerCode recommends the following (for iOS devices). When using iOS make sure you are disconnected from the car (any active connection) and that airplane mode is active.

Don't get the Veepeak. It's not supported for everything.

iPhone should use the OBDLink MX+
Android use the OBDLink LX (I have this and it works good)

Yep, the description tells you the model series supported. I use the MX+ with BimmerCode on iPhone and it works great on my X3 M40i G01 MY20

I used the MX+ on Android and it worked great, on a different note...is it possible to code the Alpina dials but ONLY the sport dial, there's too much blue in Alpina comfort dials but I love the blue and green of the sport dial.?

I'm guessing that you know that if you have Driving Mode Display turned on, you will get the blue and green dials if you're driving in any of the Sport modes? If you prefer Comfort mode, you can set your Sport Individual settings to all "Comfort" and you'll get the blue and green displays (if Driving Mode Display is turned on).

Is there any benefit to using the OBDLink MX+ rather than an iPad - Ethernet converter then a ENET Ethernet to OBD cable?

The ENET adapter plus cable is faster and cheaper, but I've found I'm going to the MX+ for convenience.

It's still a decent speed to connect but it really depends on how many options are available in each module and how fast the MX+ can take the backup of it first and then produce the options available for you to change / code.

Am I right in thinking that the ENET cable will do as much as the OBDLink MX+ adapter?

Hi, Yes Cheers, I was wondering if I could code JUST the sport dials and leave the rest as standard, pretty sure not possible though..

Yes, I think that's correct. Funny enough, but I actually prefer the all-blue Alpina display because of the larger red needles.
