Finally! I have been waiting for a sporty version of the Pontiac Aztec for my 80-year old mother-in-law. She will be delighted! Thank you BMW!!

I've said this before, please BMW, inspire us with a crossover that is in the same class as the Macan!
Macan = completely new design, modern instrumentation/interior, amazing handling and performance, and tons of available options. X4 = makeover (do-over), old/outdated interior, option packages, and still haven't fixed the surface rust that accumulates on the wheel hubs!

You'd have to get an X5 50i to get this performance, and you'd have a heavier gas guzzling car that starts at 71k. So how is it more expensive? This is just a different market. You can always option out models into the starting price of the higher model, that doesn't mean you should opt for the base model of a car you don't want. If this were an X4M it would be 75-80k, the base X5M is 18k more than the best X5 model. You might as well be telling people who get fully optioned 340xi's to go for a 528 instead.

I really don't understand why people shit on a brand or treat it like the world is over when they don't like a couple models.
No one forces anybody to buy any car. If these cars that everyone hates sell and turn a profit, BMW has more money to invest in models you like. This is no different than any car forum, overwhelmingly negative

I'm very loyal to BMW and a former F25 owner and I need to get another suv but the brand is currently lacking a product for me. The Macan GTS is a good value to me for performance and style based on the information to date. The X4 has been an inferior product due to its dated chassis from the beginning. That's all that people are trying to say.

How can people on here call this a pig and a joke without having driven one. I drove plenty of X3's as loaners and own an X5 now and the X4 drives amazing compared to those. I had the pleasure of doing an autocross session with the X4 35i and it was incredible how this thing handles. Ive done the autocross with an F30 (my previous car) and a 535i and it was better. Dont knock it until you try it. The only reason I would not pull the trigger is because of the outdated interior. The Macan is nice and a lightly optioned model can be had for the low 60's but Porsche financing and leasing is geared towards those with a fatter wallet IMO.

I actually like this vehicle. I saw a few X4s in my hood. Not bad at all. Haven't driven one. I am assuming this model is not the true M, but something like an "M235". I also like the fact that there are so many choices from BMW. More variety, for the variety of the world. I can see the appeal of this X4. It's the styling that one prefers to regular SUV functionality. If I had a big family and needed to constantly drive folks in the back, I'd choose something with a higher roof like an X3 or X5. But I can def see the appeal of this car. Is it useless? Is it necessary? Well......that's for the consumer to purchase. From looks alone, I remember the day I saw an X6 on the street and fell in love with it. Also, I do believe the "even" models (4 series, X4, etc) are more sporty than their counterparts. Stiffer suspension, some slight under the body changes, more aggressive cosmetics, etc. Either way, time will tell if folks are buying up these sorts of vehicles. And remember, BMW still has the hardcore monsters such as M3, M4, M5, M6, X5M, X6M.

I don't get the "outdated interior" point of view, though I see enough people mentioning it. Clearly, the X3/X4 interior isn't using all of the most current BMW interior design themes. But a lot of those haven't been well received anyway (the NAV placement).
Set that aside and take the X3/X4 interior design on its own merits. It is elegant and well laid out. I don't see an issue there.
