Why silver mirror caps?

Does anyone know why the new X3 and X4 have metallic silver side mirrors caps, regardless of the color SAV. It looks absolutely stupid! It should be the same color of the vehicle or my personal preference carbon fiber.

That's the current trend, lots are doing it on their "sports" models. I think Audi started it, I remember seeing Volvo R design doing it too and some other brands.

Why? Not sure, haha

Sure it might now be everybody's cup of tea and this is a public forum but some of you guys need to get off your high horse. Complaining about the rear end, tail-lights, color of the mirrors...

Yes I get that, but you shouldn't have to swap anything such a sideview mirrors caps on a brand new expensive SAV.

When I look at an overall exterior design as a Designer myself it's all encompassing, such as poorly designed/looking sideview mirrors well it just completely detract from the overall design, and it looks like tacky earrings on a vehicles ears.

Enough said.

Just test drove the new BMW X4 M40i. This SAC with the specific engine has the correct power to weight ratio, it was awesome. The one I drove did NOT have the proper M Steering Wheel. But the one thing that absolute looked hideous and out of place where is the cheesy silver metallic rearview mirror caps. I don't care what other brands are doing this, it looks absolutely stupid and like a completely mistake. It is like BMW made a mistake in the paint department.

Attached are photos after I got carbon fiber vinyl put on the mirrors. It definitely looks better than the goofy silver mirror caps that were on there before. But not quite as good as real carbon fiber. No doubt this is a lot cheaper though.
