Still getting used to the new to me 30i and have been reading thru bunches of thread to learn more. I'm not impressed with the loop support for the rear cargo lid and thought I'd seen where someone had added a gas strut to support the lid. Is there any kind of DIY thread so do this?

And on a sort of a related theme, do we have any stickies on DIY projects or articles?

I agree. The gas piston in my 2018 is so much better and the velcro strip looks a bit cheap. Not impressed at that downgrade.

Didn't know the 2018 came with the gas strut so that's interesting. Wonder if I can retro-fit that.

I suggest you do some past thread research..... He has numerous pics and lists the parts he ordered to do the job.

I read the post with interest and ordered all the parts myself and they were very inexpensive. Having said, I've just been procrastinating in installing them but still plan on doing it.

Yes, it lasted all of 1 year and apparently they got rid of it the next year.
