Dragy Test today. X3MC has bones! 3.5 0-60, 11.7 1/4 mile

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Had to hit the brake right at the end of the 1/4. Killed mph but probably did not hurt the ET too much. VERY impressed with this ride. Thanks

DA was not 6012 ft as shown on Dragy. It was 4100ft. Still not great for a test, but not 6000ft either.

I wonder what the people that were disappointed with their test drive will say. “ The car is too stiff, it doesn’t even feel fast, it doesn’t have enough cup holders”
I’m so glad I didn’t listen to any of them and placed an order. This SUV is no slouch!!!!

Had to hit the brakes right before the 1/4 mile. It will trap 117mph based on the 1/8th. Look at the 1000ft.

3.57 seconds to 60? Damn, that is FAST for a stock SUV! So much for BMWs reported 4.1 seconds.. And you weren't even at sea level! Impressive run! Correct me if I'm wrong, but that puts it besting the GLC 63S and about tieing the Stelvio. My X3MC is still about three weeks out from delivery. I actually went to the dealer today and sat in his X4MC on he showroom floor for about a hour just to get a fix. Your drag results make me want mine even more now..

Appreciate you sharing your data, onfireX5. I think as more of us take receipt and get some runs in, we'll see that the 3.6s we've been discussing will be a very repeatable number. Wouldn't be surprised to see more Dynos suggesting higher HP to be honest.

Thanks again.

They will also be quicker in the magazine articles since C&D, MT, etc use rollout for the 1/4 mile like my results above and also use roll out for the 0 to 60mph runs.

My 0-60 in 3.57 seconds did not use roll out. With roll out (12") it was 3.38 seconds.

Pure stock that is massively impressive. My F90M5 was 3.01 with rollout on the same "track". My F85X5M was 3.60 with roll out and RaceChip, Dinan Intake, Akra, etc. Pure stock was 3.95 F85X5M 1/4 mile on the same "track" was 12.2 at 114mph pure stock. 11.85 at 117.x with the mods. The stock X3MC is insane. BMW has a dilemma .....the new X5M is coming this fall....with the M5 awesome V8TT...but 600-620hp will not overcome 510hp and 900lbs weight delta.....unless BMW cuts weight on the X5M....the X3MC will be quicker/faster....not good...If they up the HP on the V8TT...the M5 market will be pissed....not good...real dilemma

The solution will be a published HP no higher than the M5, dyno will show the same underrated numbers as the M5. There is a hierarchy with BMW and other automakers where the cheaper models will not out muscle their more expensive siblings, time will tell whether this trend will remain or change.

If it's the same 617 rated HP as the F90M5C that makes on a dyno (roughly 620 rwhp), the extra 900lbs over a X3MC will make it slower than a X3MC. BMW will have to rate it at 617 engine and make 650ish RWHP to overcome 900lbs. And they might....

This would be fun - learned of this while researching Qtr mile times on various BMW SAV models, and someone took an X6M there I think a few years back. Had never heard of it.

Thanks once again to onfireX5 for providing some early phase numbers. Not to bore with details, but the Sim has never been set up to capture the intricacies of take off from standing start. Too many variables, such as tire and track friction coefficients to name a few. So the Sim uses a set equation using the weight and some avg coefficients to determine when the wheels shouldn't spin, then transfers it over to another set of equations which take the CdA etc into account.

Which is why the 0-30 and 0-60 times have now been added to the graph so the early take-off curve can be better estimated. Just need to draw a dotted line between the data points to get a rough idea as to it's capabilities.

And this is still at relatively high DAs. Quite a work of engineering by the M team.

Can't wait anywhere. Lol

Most likely I will get the G80. I went for a test drive to replace the 19' M240xi and test drove the X5 M50i and I like it until I got into X3M CP

It's hard to resist the X3M CP
