I usually try to keep the file size 1200 x 900 for routine images such as in this thread, but if it is a picture-laden site where folks want to enjoy seeing the images, then 1600 x 1200 can be used for those types of presentations.

Looking forward to seeing your data.

Hey Kevin, sorry for the delay. The blowers are actually electric leaf blowers made by EGO, they are the 530CFM models. I took off the long attachment so I could fit it around the bay. I then slapped a zip tie onto the trigger so it runs on full power haha.

Strategy wise I just wanted to have active cooling around the trans tunnel to make sure that didn't get too hot after launching a few times (blower on the left).
Blower on the right was shooting towards the front of the block, various components up there and the heat exchangers to try and keep those cool after runs. Both blowers were just edged between the strut bar and side plastics, intake piping etc until they were snug enough to not fall over haha.

I don't have anymore photos at the moment unfortunately

Thank you sir, I appreciate the compliment!! That was from the Shift-S3ctor 1/2 mile event I attended this past October.. it was a great event. To answer your question, it’s Gray with the Sakhir interior.

Details from GNV Raceway 11 Dec 2021 as discussed in the Delivery thread: https://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showp...&postcount=206

Felt strong but couldn't get a decent 0-60ft. Since so many were racing didn't have a chance to vary the tire psi much. With newer tires (had 10,600 miles on these PS4S), higher octane and lower DA still think sub 11.6s will be reached.

I'm including the Dragy Slips for each run as well. Although there's reasonable agreement with Qtr mile results, once again the Slope's inaccuracy and variability (esp in the 0-60mph data and to a lesser extent 1/8 mi, not so much in the Qtr) limit its usefulness as a reference unless one is at a Strip where that becomes irrelevant. When used at random locations one has to depend on Slope for 'valid' or 'invalid', but when that isn't dependable (esp for shorter distances), difficult to trust results as reference. Great for tuning and testing and providing est'd Qtr ET/mph though, esp if runs are always conducted at the same location.

Nice runs, very consistent! Decent 60’ too. My ‘20 X3MC ran 11.77 and thereabouts bone stock so it seems these are all within a 1/10th of each other for most all the time slip and Dragy pulls I’ve seen. BMW did well.

Looks like the LCI mph is essentially the same as pre LCI.

I agree. I was hoping with Joe Achilles runway testing against the G80 ( https://g80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1881841 ) where he showed the 11.57s Qtr that I'd be able to run sub-11.6s.

On closer review of his video, though, his trap speed for that run looks to have been 117.8mph as well, with 1/3 tank fuel (? Octane). Looked at Turweston Aerodrome's runway 09/27 on GoogleEarth (where he apparently does the testing) to get a rough idea of elevation, esp since it appears to have a negative slope and they always obtain their measurements using 09 (Eastbound).

At the '09' start, GE estimates elev as 438ft, at the Qtr mile mark it's 432ft (equating to -0.45% slope), then levels off and remains ~432ft to the half mile, the dips down further to 427ft over the final 640ft to the '27' numbers. For comparison, GE shows GNV Raceway 168ft start to way past the Qtr (actual alt is reported 167ft so fairly accurate it seems).

So yeah, the LCI may end up being about the same as our pre-LCIs.

This is exactly why I can't wait to see an official dyno sheet to see if that extra 38 lb/ ft of torque is really there.

There could be some minor tip in throttle improvements made through throttle body programming that increases the part throttle “feel”. Possibly a bit of timing advance also.

But , not 38ft lbs worth. The track mph is a much better arbiter. The mph being that close, tells all.

It it had clipped multiple 119”s , then it’s a new deal.

Thanks to Max for the data !

This is a good example of what mineshaft air will net you… runs made today on the BM3 OTS E-30 map. All factory hardware including factory downpipes. Not too sure, but I think this is a record for Tune only car?! Maybe someone can confirm?

Thanks for sharing your Dragy runs, 10SecGG. Regarding records - maybe it is with Dragy but I don't know as I don't follow those closely.

If those Qtr numbers were run at a sanctioned Strip with a formal Slip, I'd have already prepared the spreadsheets and you would be on the All Class Leaderboard. https://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showp...&postcount=337 The problem arises in the lack of trust with Dragy's Slope readings, which obviously have a major impact on acceleration numbers. No doubt you chose what seemed to be a flat surface for your run, and it may, in fact, have been an upslope for all we know, but as I continue to stress when I share my formal slips and simultaneous Dragy numbers, Dragy's 'Slope' remains an outlier for consistency, and therefore cannot be relied upon for referencing runs. Just look at my first two entries on Dragy from the exact same lane only 1-1/2 hours apart at GNV Raceway. https://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showp...&postcount=358 The first shows a slope of -0.40% in the Qtr, and the second is only -0.05%. That's a difference of 0.35% on the same lane less than 2 hours apart.

Your Qtr run shows a slope of -0.82%, which is quite large considering the distance. The data shared so far seem to suggest Dragy's slope calculations vary more in shorter sampled distances but the longer lengths smooth out it seems. So although 'Valid' by Dragy criteria, when there is such a variation between runs in the same lane at a formal Strip less than two hours apart, the 0.35% error shown in just my one example would place your -0.82% in the 'Invalid' range if it also erred in a negative fashion, due to advantageous downgrade.

Thanks again for sharing your Dragy data as always welcomed, but caution is warranted when discussing 'reference records'.

Thank you for your feedback... I appreciate it. Totally respect your opinion, and position regarding Dragy, however, it is used for confirmed records for many platforms. I'm not now, nor was I ever suggesting I set any kind of record, it was merely a question with regards to a TUNE only mod. Thanks again for your reply.

BTW... I'll be attending a private track rental in February, and we'll see if my numbers are close with an NHRA time clock vs Dragy numbers? I'll post those as I get them.

Sounds great.

And to be clear, this thread is all about sharing information about the performance characteristics of the F97/98 platforms either stock or mod. Although a ‘Leaderboard’ of sorts has been set up, the intended purpose is simply to allow others from around the world some idea as to the capabilities these vehicles possess in a verifiable way so they can compare to their own values.

Since ‘Slope’ of the tire/track interface along a measured route is a key component for a vehicle’s acceleration ability (just as weight, octane, DA, tire psi, … all influence end-result vehicle performance), the lack of consistency of Dragy’s slope data at verifiable grades makes such apples-apples comparisons difficult.

I’ve shared many simultaneous Dragy and formal slip numbers where the ET/trap speed are very close, so that isn’t the issue – it’s knowing the strip of land’s slope where the data was obtained. Since I’m at a sanctioned strip I could care less what Dragy gives as the slope, but the same can’t be said from data at random locations.

Given the relatively close agreement in the numbers, though, the ease of running Dragy often supersedes what has long been considered the gold standard of straight-line Qtr mile performance numbers from Official sanctioned Strips, be they NHRA, IHRA, NZDRA… Absolutely understandable why it’s used so often, but not always translatable to others if they don’t know where the runs occurred and whether to believe the slope.

I won't be argumentative beyond this post, because I have immense respect for all the data points you've compiled and sorted for years it seems... I hope I haven't stepped on any toes in this thread or others. Just posting my own results, discussing nuances of temps, elevation, DA, tunes, etc... It's fun to me to see everyones results from various events they've attended. I'll add one more point regarding my own data collection... I've been going to the exact same spot for several years, in all my cars I've owned to compare apples to apples with every mod I do. Dragy has served me well for if nothing else, great information.
