Last update is that TG has been canceled. I won't even bother posting links because none of it is verified and all the news websites copy and paste from one another anyways.

The remaining episodes of season 22 have been cancelled. But anything further has not happened. You are reporting old news.

If Top Gear gets cancelled for good. All three will be relieved of their contracts and will be free to go anywhere. Great news actually, BBC can go shove it.

I still don't believe BBC will throw away their biggest money maker. Top Gear is a global brand. If they think Top Gear can continue without(James, Jeremy, Richard), then BBC execs have lost their mind.

Please post a link to a site claiming he no longer works for the BBC. I'm interested to see this.

If you're talking about TG being canceled for the rest of the season, that's old news.

James May thinks we're making too much of this, and the fracas was over dinner.

I actually thought the same thing until I looked up the composition of BBC revenue, 75% of their revenue are from licensing fee that is pretty much mandatory as long as you have a TV. This would barely make a dent to them.

As far as tv franchises they produce, it pulls in the most money by far. It is watched by over 350 million viewers across the globe. The show rakes over Ł50m a year between the tv show, books, magazines, dvds, live shows, and merchandise. Top Gear isn't just a tv show, it is global brand.

If BBC thinks they can continue the show success without JC, then go for it. But fact is the show will die off without him.

I don't disagree with what you're saying, but in the grand scheme of it, that's just 1% of their yearly revenue. Don't get me wrong it's still a money maker, I'm just pointing out, financially, it doesn't seem as big of a hit as many believe it to be.

In the grand scheme of things, financially probably not. But they must care about the television division some what, because over 50% of BBC's yearly expenditures are on television. Next closest is radio, which is only 13%. I would be very surprised if they just killed off the Top Gear brand cold turkey, it is such a ratings juggernaut. They have got to be afraid of JC and company moving to a competitor. You know JC would use every chance on a new show to poke fun at the BBC.

We may never get a definitive account of what happened at that dinner so it's speculation, but there is the possibility that if Clarkson really did act egregiously he might not get another chance anytime soon. Remember the recent BBC scandals about pediophile TV hosts. You can bet the BBC is now pretty sensitive about the behavior of all their stars. Some might think that hitting a producer wouldn't be that big a deal, but I bet 30 years ago some people though a lavicious Jimmy Saville wasn't all that big a deal either. Hopefully the matter will get cleared up and the show will go on (somewhere), but if Clarkson was violent without real provocation or lame excuse (i.e. he was drunk), he could be off the air for a long time.

We lose one animal and get another. The world turns."....

I dont believe that for a moment. How come not even half a percent of the 350 million viewers signed the petition to have jc and the show back?
That tells me TG 's following is more hype, like most stuff british.

I love the show but didn't sign it because I know stupid petitions mean absolutely nothing. Perhaps the majority of the TG viewers are also so enlightened?

How can anyone with a bit of humanity defend this buffoon?
