Rk tune intake & rachip installed on lci

SHAMWOW is all I can say!

Being the poser I am at the advanced age of 47, I bought the RK Tunes intakes after I heard how loud the blow off is. I am in shock how it sounds. How it's able to be as loud as it is without changing out the blow off valves floors me. This thing sounds like an SR71 coming at you. I will get some video (After the old lady stops making fun of me), but the sound will make every 12 year old Fanboy need a new set of drawers. I put the Racechip on at the same time, so I can't speak for the performance of intakes, but that's not the reason I paid 1k for them, money WELL SPENT to me.

Onto the Racechip. I used to have to spend 20k+ to build my Vette's motors to get this performance. To spend this limited amount of money, and to have an SUV this fast is absurd. What BMW has done with this B58 is STAGGERING. I couldn't imagine what a custom tune on E85 would be like. This thing is blisteringly fast, and the sound it makes between the Mid Pipe and Intakes has cured my Peyronie's disease!!!! As a die hard Viper/Vette guy, thank you BMW for such a beautifully engineered automobile, magnifico!!!

So they didn't have the mount ready for the engine cover? That's the one thing that held me back from buying. It does sound great though!

The brackets to do that will ship out next month. I'm more than okay leaving it off, just extra cooling for the motor.

Would be nice if IND made a nice painted cover like they do for the G8X. But you're right. The hood is closed most of the time.

to be pedantic it's an S58 and the engine does not have blow-off valves.

enjoy! from the videos that I've seen these intakes sound ridiculous (in a good way).

Diverted valves recirculate the air back into the system, magic.

witchcraft.

tbh i don't exactly remember, but it's basically the same system from the S55 engine from the F8x platform; no blow off valves or diverter valves. just a combination of the electronic wastegates and valvetronic to prevent surge.

As fuggin awesome as that looks (like seriously almost drooling over here), is there no possibility of the filters getting soaked in a good rainy drive??

Other than that, it's beautiful and I'm highly considering ditching my basically new M40i for a X3MC lol

EDIT: I just listen to the clip on their website... jfc, that sound is bonkers.

Believe me, that's the first thing that crossed my mind, especially with the torrential downpours in SW Florida. The manufacturers says it's not an issue, and they would have to ingest a ton of water for that to happen. Adding that they have been tested in all weather conditions. Unless I am caught in a downpour, I'll take my other car just to be safe. The sound they make though

I wouldn’t be concerned about rain water getting into the intake. It will be water vapor by the time rain drops pass through the filter media, turbo compressor, and intercooler. The additional water vapor may drop IAT slightly. It’s actually relatively common to inject water into the engine for cooling, to decrease IAT and increase charge/air density.

BMW actually did this from the factory on the S55.

Nice kit! Any chance you have the dimensions for the filters? flange, base and height?

I want to run their kit but not a fan of the red or blue filters so I want to swap them out with something color neutral

I don't, but I'm sure they could give it to you. The owner was very friendly and informative.

No rub, fitment is very good.

Make sure you update when you get the brace and if you reinstall the engine cover.

They could be but those look a little smaller based on the customer photos. I reached out to them via email but never heard back.

Incase anyone is curious, RK got back to me regarding filter size. They highly recommend cotton filters only but spec wise their filters are identical to the K&N RE-0950.

Flange ID: 3.5 in (89 mm); Height: 6 in (152mm); Base: 6 in (152mm); Top OD: 4.625 in (117 mm)
