THE BIRDs !

Yes those flying things that eat bugs, berries, and them commence with the aerial crap bombardment !

I go away for a week the wife takes her friends out to the winery. And some bird loaded with berries, nailed the almost center of
hood / bonnet, 2 inch circle.
Wife doesn't notice for a week . . . . yea . . . too late.
now have a crap spot that etched the shinny surface. Lucky the berry color didn't stain !!

Any one have a sure cure for the situation ? ? ? ?

Give Meguiares Ultimate Compound a go.
I had bird crap on the roof of my X3 and after wiping it off it had caused the clear coat to etch. After 2/3 uses of Ultimate Compound, I had certainly removed the worst of it. If you want to be really picky, you can just about spot it in certain light, but it is definitely better than it was.

I hope you manage to resolve it!

Unless it has really eaten the clear coat (can happen) and not just etched the surface, you can totally remove it. Get a bottle of Meguire's M105 compound. I use it for everything. Make sure the area is totally clean with no dirt or grit. Put a half-pea sized dab of M105 on a old cotton t-shirt rag and rub firmly and vigorously with a fingertip inside the shirt. After a minute, use a clean part of the shirt to clean the area and see where you are. Repeat as necessary.

Before I used any cutting product, you might want to try a chemical polish such as Klasse All in One.

Excellent!

I used it over the weekend to pretty much remove a 2 inch scratch (clearly was not too deep) on my rear bumper
