I'm admittedly a noob at aftermarket wheels, but am I correctly interpreting that diagram as 'I'll need spacers to line up the green box with the orange'?

As is, it clears the suspension components.

As is, you front tires will poke out further by 4.7mm, if you put a spacer they will poke out by 4.7mm + spacer. Since the are not showing the fenders it's hard to visualize.

You need to look a others set up that got spacers and see if you like the look, then calculate the spacer (a +) and the offset they use, more than likely smaller if they kept the original wheel with and recalculate to got the same look.

Out of curiosity (I know curiosity killed the cat but satisfaction brought him back...) why do you want 275 in the front?

Ah, ok. I think I get it. (I've never done true aftermarket wheels on a car before, so I've never had to worry about specs beyond tire size itself. So my apologies if I come across as a noob here)

To answer your other question: A long while back we had a Pontiac Grand Prix GXP, which required staggered wheels. (fronts were wider than rears) When we needed new tires we had a hell of a time finding a brand we liked that offered both of the sizes needed for each axle. Was more than a bit of a pain. That and I guess I kinda presumed that wider tires will = more grip in most situations. (though that could be the influence of my 275 tire'd Charger talking, lol)

So if I may politely flip the question a bit: Are 275s considered overkill for the front of these X3s?

Honestly I didn't even bother to check as I liked the way the red TSW logo looked with the red calipers... They appear to be swappable but I'm not sure.

So after reading through this thread about 20 times looking for pics of wheels I like, searching tire rack, Canada wheels, multiple other spotsand coming up dry, is it accurate to say:
  1. There isn’t a ton of wheels in what I think are the sizes I’d want (e.g. 20x9 ET 12)
  2. You have to move to a fairly expensive wheel ($400ish and up) to get into choosing manually selecting offsets which vastly widens the choice of wheels. Is that what most people do? I realize that $400 may not be considered expensive in the world of wheels where they can easily get to 1000-1500/wheel but expensive to me.

Wheel sizes:
I want to downgrade to a 20” wheel for more and cheaper tire choices granted I’ll likely still end up with the pilot super sport 4, but I want to keep the staggered look as I really like the wide tire look in the back. As a result based on the recommendations of this thread and www.willtheyfit.com I came up with:
20x9 ET12
20x10.5 ET32 (1.7mm closer to suspension - assuming that won’t make a major fitment difference)

I was going to go with a Beyern set, but the Discount Tire I was ordering through said the company told them the bolt pattern would not match and they did not have a matching one yet for the 2018 M40i. The guy said this was the best wheel for BMW as they specialize in them and the centercaps are easily changed to the BMW logos. But I am wondering if anyone can recommend another brand that has a black (gloss or gloss with matte is fine) wheel that I can order sooner than later. For reference I was going to go with the Bayern Antler style 20's.

Bayern is a good option, most other brands will require centering rings - I wouldn't want to deal with these, unless you like having unsolvable vibration issues later.

245s in the front with 275s in the back. The offset is different than what it was stock (I dont remember specifics) but thats why the rears look a little further out.

Dealer had them powder coated for me to solve that problem and very pleased

Another pic (sorry repeat for those that saw this on my new car thread)
Anymore pics with better lighting? My plan was to rock the 718M's stock until I got tired of cleaning them, then powder coat them black. What finish did you use? Gloss or Satin, or other?
Powder coated 718M wheels. Happy with the look for a temporary fix, till I pull the trigger on some HRE P101SC's.

Saw this post on Instagram. Obviously they show installing this style rim works works on an X3, but technically speaking, if you have the knowledge base to explain what the process looks like, what do I need to show up to the shop with to have them install on an 2021 X3 M40i? Based on the x6MC configurator the rim style/set up is: 21"/22" M Star-spoke bi-color wheels, style 818M with non run flat tires. Can you recommended the parts you feel will be needed? like spacers or anything like that?

I am real novice when talking fitting wheels on a car. I don't like putting aftermarket aesthetics on a car which is why I want BMW manufactured rims, but from reading other threads many rims designed for other models of BMW's don't work across models due to bolt patterns or clearance between brake calipers and the rims. Any input or insight would be helpful.

Was it an OEM setup with 245/45 and 275/40 minus the offset in the rear?

I love that look! Any chance you know the width and offset on the wheels? The rear looks especially awesome! Congrats!

Variant Radon - Bronze or Black?

I am loving the Variant Radon for my 2020 X3 M40i but...
I am stuck on wheel finish and the choice is polarizing but I'd love some opinions.

Currently, my X3 is Glacier Silver but will be wrapped in Satin Dark Grey, Rock Grey, or Dark Basalt.

So the question is...wheels in Bronze, Gloss Black (or Satin Black)
Love it or hate it...am I crazy to go bronze?
Will the M-Brakes dirty up the finish or hide it well?

https://variantwheels.com/product-ca.../wheels/radon/

Thanks!

Sorry I didn't read every post so may have missed it but...

Anyone find good aftermarket options that do not require centering rings and/or different wheel nuts? I just went through this with GF new G20 330 xDrive and had to settle on an ASA GT16 (not my first choice) for just that reason.

May just wait until Apex releases something that would likely reuse OEM hardware, but want to explore other options in the interim. Tried a bunch of wheels on TireRack and they all needed different hardware.

Looking into running a square 20x10 +22 setup with 275/40/20 Ps4s tires. Has anyone ran a setup similar? My Main concern is the front, rear should be ok.

I have a set of BBS CH-R in storage.
I would love your thought about these sizes:
20 x 9.5 40mm
20 x 10.5 24mm

You would need the offsets to be opposite for those to work.

BBS SX using OEM studs and no need for spacers. Staggered set up.

Gotcha, thanks for the reply! I was going to give it a fitment test but now I'm thinking it may not be the best idea lol.
