Brought it back?!? When was it ever on the X5/6M?…..or am I missing something?!?

wait to see the actual @rpm ratings as well as dynos. I still believe these are paper numbers. There is no way they bumped the TQ 37ft lbs and magically improved 0-60 3 tenths.
I wouldn't call it paper numbers. They confirmed new internals, including a forged crankshaft.

They managed to ruin the X3 too, wow. Those taillights are terrible.

Cost nearly 3k to add an OEM strut tower brace and mirror caps for 20-21 models. BMW just goes ahead and includes them on the 22 model when they should have been there all along.

I'm super salty about that.

That must only be with the carbon package

Garbage, absolute garbage! What the hell is wrong with BMW, everything they come out with now is horrid looking. Pre LCI X3M and X4M look WAY better!

….and how much more is a 2022 vs a 2021? There's always additional things added to newer models. The 2022 Porsche Carrera comes with things the 2021 didn't…..but the base price is higher. Seems pretty standard fare to me.

No reason to be mad, it didn't all of the sudden make your 2021 a clunker. The change in specs is likely just updated to reflect real world numbers anyways. They always underrate their numbers.

Perhaps if this is your reaction you should have waited for the LCI as there was no secret it was coming this year…

BMW always used to be conservative with M LCIs, which was a nice gesture and gave some degree of comfort to early adopters. Those days are clearly LONG gone.

Good or not, I can't remember an M LCI with this many significant changes. It's really mind-blowing and is leaving me to question what I want to do now with my 2021 and if I even want to stay with the brand.

The good news is, I would bet most if not all of the interior changes can be easily added to 20-21 model years, as I doubt they changed anything at all in the structure behind them. Might even be plug and play direct bolt on.

Right

C&D tested it 0-60 in 3.3, so its just BMW stating closer to that. IRL I doubt its more than 0.1 quicker and at that little of a difference it would most likely be something else that made it quicker in the test...

not saying the torque isn't welcome, I think its lower down in the revs too so it probably feels quicker now.

I like the rear of the X3M but the front, WHY? they advertise the "larger grills" like we wanted it, maybe some parts of the world did, but not the US and Europe. New colors are welcome but how about actual NEW colors, not M3 colors...

Perhaps since there is zero precedent for something like this, then I figured I'd be safe in a 2021. Clearly not the case and a sign of things to come.

Look on the bright side, your 2021 looks way better and if they stick with big LCI updates like this the trash G8x might be palatable one day.

The industry is rapidly changing with each year so it's good that they are at least open to making bigger changes with the LCI.

This was almost a 100% known fact, why wouldn't they give it the same torque as the new M3/M4? same engine... I would have been shocked if they didn't do that.

For comparison's sake:

X3M and X4M Pre-LCI

X3M and X4M LCI

I'm personally still more of a fan of pre-LCI overall. To me, the shapes are cleaner and better defined. There's a flow that feels like its missing from the newer ones.

I just realized the new face looks like a big happy smile… Especially on the X4M, no more angry trout mouth.

Clearly BMW is positioning the X3M to be the alternative to the people who can't stomach the G80.

Oh my god so many salty 20/21 owners!

This car looks great and it's a solid update. Would take it in a hot second over the outgoing model.

Unfortunately, I'm an impatient mofo and can't wait a year to get the same kind of discounts + allocations that are available for an X3M (I locked in May, now is a different story.

Waiting for my '21 to get built and will be happy taking delivery of it, but I love this new X3M.

Let's see how I am feeling in one year, maybe I switch then…
