Touch Up Paint - Phytonic Blue Metallic

Well it had to happen. I got a small chip on the front of my new M40i. Called the dealer and asked if they had touch up paint. They said no, not in Phytonic Blue. They gave me the paint number and said I needed to go to an auto painter. Well I found it on eBay at “oopsbegone”. Received the paint quickly. They provided clear coat as well as several different size touch up brushes. I highly recommend them.

Interesting that they wouldn't have it already. I also has a misfortune of having a small stone hitting my side. When I heard it while driving down the highway, I knew what it was. So now I have a tiny bump about 1/8 of an inch and I don't have any paint chipped but the coating is a little scratched. I was hoping to find some touch up paint and was going to go to the dealer. Thanks for the heads up.

I called BMW HQ's in NJ and they stated they weren't going to offer the Phytonic Blue touch up paint in this country. Gave some baloney about the EPA is to strict on importing paint into this country. Which is BS.
I got mine on ebay from a place in Germany and received it within 10 days. Would have got to me quicker but it sat in NY customs for 5 days before being released and then travel out here.

anyone know the touch up paint color code for dark graphite? I see a seller selling 'sophisto grey' and they say it is the same as dark graphite.

If you put your VIN into bmwvin.com you should find the code beside the name of the colour

Just look on the label on the inside of the B pillar (with drivers door open).
On it in the lower right corner, above the lowest code, you will see a 3-4 digit code. Like for Phytonic Blue = C1MM
That's the exterior body color code.

I tried to acquire some Phytonic Blue touch-up paint at my dealer today didn't have any info on "C1M" since it's a "new color." The parts guy contacted BMW and was told there isn't any and BMW wouldn't say if/when they'd make it available. Seems really strange to me.

I may end up going to eBay route.

UPDATE: I just placed an order for it thru eBay.

I asked the parts department to order a touchup stick. They were unable to get a satisfactory answer from BMW Canada. The customer experience manager at the dealership is going to raise it with head office.

I have a bottle of Phytonic Blue (color code C1M) touch up paint which also comes with a bottle of clear coat. Both came from Germany and have never been opened. Brush is attached to each cap.

$25.00 includes priority mail in US.

If interested, PM me. Thanks

After touching up with OEM touch up paint, use Langka blob eliminator to level and blend. This product only works with factory touch up paint. I’ve done touch up on tri coat (pearl) with amazing results. Highly recommend. Discovered it at a Corvette forum years ago.

http://www.langka.com

You can also find it at Amazon.

How bad was yours? I had this C**t at work open the door as if my car wasn't there and caused this. Cars a little dirty, small ding you might not pick up in the photo.

I'm thinking dr color chip if I can't compound/polish.

My usual go-to place for touch-up paint is paintscratch.com. I just checked and they don't have X3 in their dropdown box for 2018 or 2019 yet. My car is also Phytonic Blue and I'm going to need some touchup paint, so I will give them a call soon to see if they have it. Paintscratch will sell you a small bottle, pen or aerosol can of your color. Langka is a product I've had some success with in blending/eliminating touchup blobs. There are lots of good how-to videos on Youtube. The real key is patience, using tiny amounts, letting it dry and adding more paint in tiny amounts.

Ouch, that's a fair bit bigger than mine!

One coat of colour then build up coats of lacquer until it's all higher than the surrounding paint, then sand it flat with 300 grit wet & dry, then compound to shine it up. Nobody will ever notice it.
